         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>In 1896, the United States ruled that it was legal for schools to be segregated. This meant that there could be schools just for white children and schools just for African American Students. The schools had to be separate but equal. This ruling was not fair because the schools were separate, but they were NOT equal. White schools were much nicer.</strong></div><pre><br></pre>]]></description>
