1: Definition:

SDG no 3 (Good health and well-being) is one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations in 2015. The official wording is: "To ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all people of all ages."

2: Opinions & Personal Sharings

From my perspective, a student's mental and physical health is often related to their environment- the school. Some of the school gravity problems may have been known like bullies, social challenges, peer pressures, stereotypes.....etc may greatly impact the students' mental and physical health, and they can also decrease the student's happiness rate. To tackle the issues and to support the students, our school set up an annual event called "The Well-being Week" for the students and teachers. During this week, we had lessons about happiness, we wore pink clothes, and we participated in fantastic activities during the week. Moreover, our school provides a weekly survey about the student's happiness level every week, asking why they are not happy and making contact with them if the issue is too serious.

3: Overall solutions

However, school should be a place that provides knowledge and happiness to the students. I just think that if a student is happy, they are willing to do and learn new things actively! In my opinion, a solution to ensure the student's well-being level is a short game about the importance of a students well-being level in the noon-breaktime! The game can have various rules and playing ways. The student council can set up a game in the schoolyard! Im sure that its going to be an attraction to most students.

   1. Global issues:

       A. Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being

SDG 3 is a bold goal that aims to minimize or eradicate certain health-related issues, such as:

Maternal mortality as well as avoidable infant and early childhood deaths.

Mortality from non-communicable diseases, drug addiction, and mental illness, as well as from communicable diseases including AIDS, TB, and malaria.

Ensuring that everyone has access to health care, including reproductive health services.

The effects of pollution, climate change, and dangerous chemicals on human health

B. What can I do to create healthy futures?

To help stop the transmission of COVID-19, wear a face mask, engage in social distance, and wash your hands frequently.

Make sure my kids' and my immunizations are current. Plan to have the flu shot this year to prevent hospitals from being inundated by patients during the pandemic.

We are grateful to the medical experts and vital workers who risk their own health and the health of their loved ones on a daily basis to keep services available to all of us during the pandemic.

Urge my business to place a higher priority on partnerships and investments in health, as well as the mental health of its stakeholders and workers.

Raise your voice against the social and economic injustices that result in unequal access to healthcare.

   2. Vietnam's issues:

SDG 3 is straightforward but will need a lot of work to accomplish: "Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages." The high rates of tuberculosis, traffic fatalities, and the proportion of surviving infants who received both of the immunizations recommended by the World Health Organization are only a few of the sub-scores — specific facts that have contributed to Vietnam reaching the depleted state of wellness and well-being target.

Creating healthcare equity and accessibility, as well as managing infectious diseases like the previously stated tuberculosis score, are some of the biggest issues that have been recognized. Because certain new regulations that have enhanced the management of communicable illnesses in one sector are not established in others, these challenges are closely related to one another.

   3. School program:

Every year, we have a general health check at school once at the beginning of the school year because the school wants to ensure students' health

The school built a website for us to conduct a well-being survey once a week.

Global Problems

Some parts of the world don't have the same healthcare as other countries. We can fix this by building hospitals in other countries so less fortunate people can be healed or cured of ailments they might not have been able to be cured of without hospitals nearby.

There is a lot of misinformation about medicine and healthcare. For example, there are plenty of erroneous claims that vaccines cause autism. That is totally bogus, but with the Internet being accessible by everyone, some people genuinely believe that. We can fix this issue by putting harsher financial penalties on dangerous misinformation like this.

Problems in the US

Healthcare is very expensive in the US. Without insurance, you can have to pay upwards of thousands of US dollars to retrieve treatment. Even with insurance, you have to pay a lot for it, and insurance might not cover everything. There isn't a single solution to fix this, since doctors sometimes also help people for the money. Lowering deductibles or premiums on health insurance can help alleviate this problem.

Certain politicians appear to want to abolish Medicare/Obamacare (which is free healthcare for those who qualify). I don't understand why these guys want to take out healthcare. It increases the mental and physical health of Americans; that should be well worth the cost. Americans can just refuse to vote these people into office, but because some people don't even think about who they're voting for (this goes for both sides of the political spectrum), this is near impossible.

School activities

Recently Chantilly High School had a "Stress Less" week. This week had activities for students to do outside of class in a hope for them to stress less. It's a nice concept, but I don't think it does anything that important. One single week of "stress less" isn't enough; one week might even make things worse because students feel like they "have to" participate in the activities. Instead, stress-free activities should occur during the study hall periods, even for those who are failing, so you can just relax, unwind, and do whatever.

Pictures

1. Global issues

The most obvious global health concerns deal with communicable and contagious diseases but global health factors include economic and political instability, income and social inequality, lack of education and employment, insufficient food and medicine and climate change and natural disasters. Other global health issues include:

--global health protection

--Immunization

--HIV and TB

--Malaria and Parasitic diseases

--Other diseases and threats

--food and water

Solutions:

We needed to have more open minded people especially in terms of job offers and employment. Because there is a lack of jobs globally, people get payed off more frequently or don't have enough food and water to provide for themselves and their families. In some countries water and food are frequently contaminated or have bugs and other things that can be harmful to the human body. We need to have a global food drive or something similar in order to provide food and water to the less fortunate families and individuals globally and in our country.

2. Country issues

According to the centers for disease control and prevention (CDC), it is estimated that 6 out of 10 Americans suffer from chronic disease and 4 of those 10 suffer from two or more. these diseases include type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer's, stroke, heart disease, cancer, chronic kidney disease, chronic ling disease.

The opioid epidemic has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives in recent years. Both prescription drugs and illegal street drugs have contributed to these looses. Organizations like the CDC and countless advocacy groups are fighting to reverse these outcomes through public programs, awareness, campaigns, research, and surveillance and support to ensure that providers who prescribe these medications follow appropriate safety guidelines.

Nearly 20,000 Americans lost their lives as a result of homicide in 2017, and those numbers are unfortunately not in a rapid decline. Crime prevention, access to weapons, identifying ral threats and addressing mental health issues can all help reduce these grim statistics of injury and death. In addition to building awareness surrounding safer lifestyle choices.

School activities:

Last week we had a wellness week for all students at our school. There were spirit days such as wear green or dress like teachers as well as a wellness fair that a bunch of activities for students to do like hanging out with friends, embroidery, arts and crafts, as well as study hall. I feel like the wellness fair actually helps students because it gives them a break from school work and just enjoy the hour that they have to hang out with friends and do whatever activities they want. we also have study hall for students to finish up work that is past due or to make up tests and quizzes that they missed.

Sustainable Development Goal #3:

The third target of the 17 global missions, as declared by the United Nations, aims to focus on good health and well-being. This goal encompasses many priorities, such as quality healthcare, equal access to medical attention as well as medicine, and the gradual elimination of various dangerous ailments.

I. A global issue: the prescription issue.

As of now, humanity has gone a long way in the vast field of medicine and therapeutics. There have been so many chemicals either synthesized or extracted from nature for medical purposes, as they can help to treat or alleviate an enormous amount of conditions. In truth, medications can be lifesavers if they are used responsibly and correctly. Of course, a lot of drugs do come with their side effects, hence why plenty of them are only available with a prescription, meaning they’re only available via a valid indicated prescription from a medical professional. Current issues surrounding prescription medicine include drug shortages, substance abuse by both patients and non-patients, faulty prescribing (e.g. overprescribing), addiction, counterfeit pills, clandestine production and trafficking of drugs that are normally prescription drugs, as well as the health risks that exist when antidote medicines are scarce or when patients that are dependent on certain prescription drugs are denied their medications. What we can do is stop the stigma towards pills, push the production of essential medications, use prescription drugs responsibly, and evaluate if the dosage is appropriate by asking a trusted medical professional.

II. The Vietnamese pill problem: Unfortunately, not everyone gets medications for this purpose. Some people are still trying to obtain such drugs without a prescription. One prime example of this issue is the fact that some pharmacists are now handing out prescription medications to people who do not get prescribed them. This is a real thing that is happening in Vietnam. Such pharmacies have a trick up their sleeves: they immediately stop their activities when the authorities try to investigate and resume their drug distribution to people without a prescription afterward. What's even more alarming is that even if pharmacists deny a customer's request for prescription pills without a valid prescription, the customer will just purchase them from another pharmacy, and the problem ensues. The authorities should pay more mind to this problem: over-the-counter pills should be clearly distinguished from prescription-only pills. Letting people purchase prescription-only pills without a prescription could pose a serious risk, as there may be side effects or bad reactions to the pills that will not be accounted for without a doctor's advice.

III. School activities:

As noted by many students, our school has planned events such as the well-being week or the day against bullying. Furthermore, we also have health check-ups and a mental health program that is available on our learning site. I would also like to mention that our teachers have taught us about substance abuse and how it is an issue that needs to be tackled in class.

Global Issue related to SDG

Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3) aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. It addresses a wide range of health-related issues, including universal health coverage, reducing deaths from road traffic accidents and substance abuse, and controlling tobacco use. These issues are widespread and affect countries at all stages of development. These days, diseases like AIDS or HIV are much more common than in the past, which is like a warning about the urgency of this SDG.

To address the global challenges related to SDG number 3, here are some of my opinion-based solutions:

    1. Enhance Healthcare Systems: It is imperative to build strong healthcare systems that can cater to the needs of all individuals. This entails investing in the development of hospitals, clinics, and ensuring an adequate number of well-trained healthcare professionals.

   2. Advocate for Universal Health Coverage: It is vital to establish policies that guarantee access to healthcare services for everyone, regardless of their financial status. This includes providing coverage for a comprehensive range of health services, spanning from preventive measures to rehabilitative care.

Vietnam's Issue

Now in Vietnam, students are introduced with inappropriate substances like vape/tobacco/cigarettes through social media. By using those substances it can affect their mental health, physical health and bring unwanted health conditions.

My activities

I participated in the wellbeing week, an event hosted at my school that aims at stimulate the well-being act of students. I drew posters and such to send my message about well-being to other students

Gyms should invest into hiring more personal trainers to help new gym goers with their fitness journey.

Non-Profits taking action, Non profits should open free cardio classes (spin class, HITT, etc.) to the obese community specifically to encourage them to exercise more.

More 24 hour gyms, often times the gym just becomes another chore to people, and it’s a pretty long one. Most people spend at least an hour in the gym and balancing that with work and whatever other activities in the average citizens daily life can be challenging. When a gym is open 24 hours it gives people the option to go whenever they are available.

Global Problem:

There are now a variety of health complications citizens experience as a result of human-induced and preventable pollution. I think an effective way of solving this problem is contacting government officials to try and find safer options for citizens in unclean circumstances.

My Country's Issues:

In America, many people experience health problems as a result of pollution. For example, in Flint, Michigan, where citizens are unable to get access to clean water because officials switched their water source to a cheaper, dirtier alternative. This has led to lead poisoning, impaired cognition, behavioral problems, etc. This isn't a unique experience, cities across the nation are susceptible to unclean ways of life.

School Activities:

There have been multiple efforts to address and possibly solve the issue. For example, the Social Justice Club I'm in spent a meeting addressing environmental racism, specifically going into detail about citizens in San Diego, California suffering from air pollution. For an ESOL class I assisted at, I also created a model slideshow on Flint, Michigan, and ways to improve the situation.
