Storytelling with book is awesome because has the tool as a visual support to create an engagement atmosphere when the younger learners have to listen to the story. Helps to focus and get into the story. It could be attractive for them if the book is colourful and familiar. Also, helps to introduce them new vocabulary and to teach them values and culture.

However, storytelling with books are not so flexible, so this not help younger learners to develop their imagination and creativity. another cons of using books is that the verbal and body language of the storyteller disappears so the communication with the learners is not the best. Also, could tends to create passive storytellers using books because it is easier to stay in the comfort side.

One of the benefits of telling a story without a book is the opportunity to change the direction of the story. You can tell the story using your own words so you will transmit the emotions to them for sure. Another benefit is that you can tell personal stories and it is more attractive and familiar for learners because they can connect with you and the story. Develops more their imagination and creativity because they only have to imagine how is the story with your words and your body language and sounds.

There are some cons as; younger learners are used to loose the attention easier so maybe they will lose focus when they are listening to a story without a book. Also, they can miss some words or misunderstand others when they’re communicated to you. You can tell the story using your own words so you will transmit the emotions to them for sure.

We should take into account the topic in order to choose to tell a story. The younger learners likes is an important factor to be considered if you want to connect with them. For that, it is advisable to use topics that they like, things that are familiar to them. Also, the background sounds and visual supports are other factors to be considered to engage students. Another factor is to use a correct body language and the tone of your voice according to your story chosen. The place you choose to tell the story is important to create a good atmosphere and consider those students with special needs.

Also, teachers can share the book with students so they can see how words are written and spelt.
Moreover, when teachers use book they can integrate more characters as its more visual than just miming them (too many could be confusing).
