A Classroom with the Door to the World was a wonderful experience for me. I can truly say that it is the best Erasmus course I’ve ever attended. Thanks to Rita, the organizer and all the other people of the staff who helped us carry out the activities. And thanks to the magic scenery of Guadeloupe rich in impressive sandy beaches and gorgeous rainforests.
Everything was perfectly organized. I’ll remember the drum session, the trip to to little ilet de Gosier and Ilet de I’ll Caret start writing my new Erasmus K1 and K2 projects taking into account all the lessons we studied and practiced together: key competences, PBL, Internationalization of the Curriculum.

This course was really interesting because of the social scale of the project (meeting people from other countries) and the professional one. I’ve learnt that internationalization can be promoted working on different levels:

1. Local school networks

2. National school networks

3. International school networks

This will be helpful in developing national and local curriculums, thanks to the support of mucipalities and other institutions. In order to implement internationalization, we need to develop students’ skills through foreign language teaching. Exchange programmes and mobilities, together with specific classroom activities, are good at contrasting stereotypes and prejudices. The staff need to be properly trained according to international competencies as a whole. This experience was outstanding!

We had a fantastic two weeks filled with many different and interesting content. These included the contents of the Teacher Professional Development Course, as well as intensive insights into the history and culture of Guadeloupe. There were also lessons in French creole Culture and Cuisine. The aim of internationalization and modernization of curriculum to develop the key competences was the basis of the course. A particularly intensive cooperation of the participants from different countries was also the common cooking. We improved our management and staff competences. , learned about about innovative teaching methods respectively the European dimension integrated into curriculum. We improved a bit our language competences and learned a lot about cooperation with partners from other countries. This includes creating projects and an increasing quality in the preparation and implementation of international projects. Learning with all senses includes the local food ;-)

I had a wonderful time in Guadeloupe. From the very first beginning Rita's organization was just perfect and she created such a good learning atmosphere. Actually, it was the first time in my life that I really had the experience of learning by doing, seeing, feeling (in the context of a class of course). Everybody in school is always talking about not simply learning facts but to really experience the topic in which you want to improve - and that's what we did in Guadeloupe. We experienced what multiculturalism means and that helped me a lot in my teacher life but also in my personal life.
Besides that we got a lot of information about how to make your school international. I will come home with a real plan to present to my colleagues. We will directly be able to start making our school more international- with small projects in our everyday lessons and with bigger projects which we will plan in the following month.
I am really happy about my experience in Guadeloupe and I think I will return to Germany being a better teacher than I was before. Thank you!

This class was the most emotional I've ever experienced. It touched me deeply inside and told me if you wanted to change something, if you wanted to participate in a process, if you wanted to go with your students on their way into a global world, then do it - now!
I had the opportunity to experience the great culture and landscape of Guadeloupe. It was just amazing.
I will come again!
I will recommend the course to my best colleagues so that they can have exactly the same great experiences as I do and pick up this huge amount of motivation here in Guadeloupe personally.
It was wonderful to work with colleagues from other countries, to find out what projects they were working on and what problems and solutions they had.
I am confident and hopeful that we will make good progress in the internationalization of curricula and international cooperation.
We must help our students to find their place in a globalised world and to build their future world worth living in.
Rita - thank you very much. It was a perfect organization, a great experience. You have given me back my view of what is important in my own life and in my profession.

The course was a fundamental experience for me. To live on an island where literally everything is different from what you are used to, climate, nature, culture, the enormous mix of influences from practically all over the world, all that was the perfect setting for a course which has the aim of creating an international, transcultural awareness. The world doesn't consist of countries and cultures that are independent from each other. There is a global interdependence. We have to be aware of our own identity and see and accept others without anyone feeling feeling superior. It will be a long way to reach that aim but we as teachers have a special responsibility there.
Last but not least I would like to say thank you to everyone who contributed to the planning and realisation of the course in particular Rita. You have done a great job!
