Florida Institute of Technology is my safety school, with average SAT scores being between 1130 and 1320 and a mode GPA of around 3.63, making it a rather easy school to get into. FIT offers many technological degrees in fields such as engineering and, the field I'd like to pursue, computer science. FIT also offers an Army ROTC program and plenty of scholarship opportunities, even recognizing the Florida Bright Futures Academic Scholars award.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology is my reach score, with very competitive test scores and GPAs. The average SAT score is between 1490 and 1570 and an average GPA of 4.13, making MIT super selective. MIT, being a technological school, offers degrees like computer science, engineering, and a multitude of sciences like biology and chemistry. MIT offers all 3 branches of ROTC, those being Army, Air Force, and Navy, with the Marine Corps being apart of the Navy. MIT has their own unique application process called MyMIT and is done through their website.

University of Central Florida is my mid school. UCF is nowhere near as competitive as MIT, but more competitive than FIT with a similar SAT score range of 1150 to 1320, but with a significantly higher average GPA of 3.93. UCF, being a university, offers a plethora of different degrees in a vast amount of fields. You can get a degree in nursing, or in accounting, or electrical engineering, or even theatre. UCF offers an immense selection of scholarships to assist in paying for your education. UCF offers both Army and Air Force ROTC, but Navy.

My college goal is to get into a reputable technological college (or a college with a technological department). Not necessarily an ivy-league, extremely high ranking school, but one that's at least somewhat selective and has a good reputation so I can be proud to say that's the school I attended. I want to get a master's degree in computer science to give me the knowledge I need for my career and to give me the ability to go into another field should my main career goal not work out. As for my career goal, I want to be a video game designer/developer. I want to be able to sit down and work with a team to make not just a game, but a new world full of life, wonder and amazement. I'm leaning more towards the technical side of game development and design because I've always been intrigued and fascinated by the gritty side of technology, the endless walls of seemingly meaningless numbers and words that come together to allow the tools we use nearly everyday to function.

My projected major at UCF is a masters in computer science, but I will have to go through my bachelors first so I'm using the bachelors degree program of study. In your computer science major, you will learn many different things pertaining to computer science such as algorithms, problem solving, and programming. The program of study shows you different areas and, next to it in parentheses, how many credits required in that area. Below each area is the different courses you can take in that area, with each showing you how many credits it will give you right next to it. The program will also tell you any special requirements or recommendations to enhance your learning experience. The main question I have is about the areas that don't list any courses. Do I not need to take courses in these areas? Or are they simply not required. I would also like to know if any dual enrollment courses at Daytona State College are equivalent to any courses you can take for this major.
