This quote shows me that all the wrong things this country is and has done, will eventually tear apart everything this country is. It shows  me that if us, as a country, do not stop all the anger and hate, this nation will fall.

To me, this quote means that the worse you try to make the situation, the worse it will become. The foundation is the protesting and boycotting for equal rights. The whirlwinds of revolt are when people try to make the situation worse, by doing things like; assasinating leaders, bombing houses, fighting with fists, and other things. Those things only make the situation worse and harm the chances of this country becoming fair for everyone.  People still do things that make the situation worse, and we’re still waiting for that day when there is no more racial injustice. For now though, the situation is getting better and we should all recognize the importance Martin Luther King Jr. had and still has on this country. When you think about it, without Dr. King, this country might have forever been segregated. But because of him and other civil rights activists, this is a free, amazing country.

What this quote means to me is, the whirlwinds of revolt is, the messiness of the fighting. To me the foundation is the boycotts, protests, and speeches. If more people join the movement the bigger difference you can make. The way I think about it is like building a house. If you wreck the foundation then the whole house falls over and there is a lot of destruction. But if you add more floors and layers to the house then the foundation will be steady. Just like if more people join the movement the more successful it will be. What Martin Luther KIng Jr has taught me is that if at first you don’t succeed you have to keep pushing. If it weren’t Martin, this problem would keep going. We still have racism problems. But, he did help the situation. If he didn’t tell us that love is stronger than hate, more people would be assassinated, there would be fist fights, and no one would want to stand up for what is right. Also leaders houses would be bombed, wrecked or they would be forced to leave. If we have no leaders we have no movement which means the problem isn’t solved. 

In the story Martin’s Big Words, Martin shows us how he fought to make the world a better place. When Marther Luther King was a little boy he would see white only signs in the stores and he knew he had to change something. When he got older he tried many things to make the world a better place then he had his I Had A Dream Speech which thousands of people came to see after that he changed something. 

In the story Martin’s Big Words, Martin's work was exceedingly inspirational and astonishing. I am surely happy that Dr. Martin Luther King made that amazing movement/action that changed many people's lives. Dr. Martin Luther King was brave enough to stand up for what is right and change the world. Martin Luther King's dad, and grandfather inspired MLK Jr.  to become a priest which helped guide his understanding, teaching and love for everyone. As we think about January 3rd-Monday we should all remember to be grateful for the hard work that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 

In the story Martins Big Words I was struck by how people treated black people.This was horrible. Martin was a very inspiring man he walked with people. He thought them to use worlds not fists. Even when people were getting killed from doing this he just kept on walking. Martin was a good man and we learned a lot from him and if he had not done that who knows what the world would be like to day.

book taught me about the racism and inequality black people and african americans had to face. The way they were treated back then is horrible and yet people still struggle to understand the difficulties and mistreatment black lives and african americans had to face. The story told me about the courage and bravery Martin Luther King had. The book also told me about the famous quotes by Martin Luther King. The quotes by Martin Luther King resembled all the struggles and difficulties black lives had to face. When I read this quote to myself it means don't stop fighting for what's right until you get what's right! Dont stop, dont give up and even if your house literally gets bombed, If you are fighting for something thats means alot to not just you but the people around you dont give up. If your life is threatened it is probably worth it. I mean look around, Martin Luther King might have been killed but he made a big difference not just in the US but all over the world. It was not ok how we treated different races of people back then, and it is terrible how some people still feel like they are judged based on the color of their skin, and how some people still judge people based on the color of their skin and racism.

One thing I learned about Martin’s big words was he was a hero for many colored people and words can make a big difference instead of actions. When Martin had protests people got beat up but he still didn’t fight back. He said that the only weapons he needed were his words. Martin said if we fought back they would be like see this is why we have these laws and if he was not their leader most of these laws would be the same.  He said that “The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.”and that is true.  That is what I learned about Martin’s big words.

Martin Luther King Jr. was a brave human about his rights. He protested for his rights. To many people, he is a hero. He got put in jail for protesting but he kept doing it for the rights of him and his people. He fought for the color of his skin, and for him and many other people to be treated equally. He has inspired many people to not give up and to keep going. He said using peace, love, and unity were all the weapons he needed. He made a speech called, I had a dream witch went viral all around the country which made more and more people fight for their rights. “The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nations until the bright day of justice emerges”. Eventually he changed the world and everyone got treated equally. They first started by not going on the buses for a little over one whole year because a woman named Rosa Parks got arrested for not giving up her seat to a white man. And then for a little over a year everyone walked to their jobs to going to churches and more. That eventually led to letting black and white people to sit wherever they wanted on buses. At the age of 39, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. got shot which led to him dying. Before his death, he got thretends from white people that they would kill him and  his family. His house later got bombed, following with his brothers house. People might not still treat all people evenly but most people have changed.

From what I know about Dr. Martin Luther King is that he inspired many people to never give up and keep trying. This is something he said himself “the whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day justice emerges”. This saying means a lot even though it might not seem like it. It means that things might be a little rough but if you keep trying your bright day will come. Which means what you have been doing and going through for what you want or need will come. Those words inspired many people. Dr. Martin Luther King moved on and kept giving speeches. His most famous speech was the I had a dream speech. His dream was in hope that things would change and everyone would get along and get treated equally. He has done many speeches then one day he sadly passed away from a horrible gunshot. The person you did it got arrested. He died at 39 years old. But in that short lifetime he changed many people's lives. But all those speeches I told you about and others are very important. And he inspired many before he died. If you are reading this never give up in lots of his speeches many of his words ment never give up.  So listen to his words and never give up!

Martin Luther King was a hero, if we didn’t have him then right now would probably be mayhem. Throughout his life, Martin used his words and not fists. Some of his words were,“darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” And he taught many people to do that too. He led marches and boycotts for equal rights and stood up for what was right even if his life was at risk. He was put in jail many times but in the end it was worth it. He said that using peace, love, and unity were the only weapons he needed. And when he said, “The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges,” he meant that the protesting will not stop until all men and women and all boys and girls are treated equally like they should be.

 Martin Luther King Jr. was a very brave man.In the 39 years he was on this earth he led many marches, peaceful protests,and boycotts. Martin Luther King Jr. was arrested and beaten many times but he kept on marching.His most famous speech was his I have a dream speech.Martin Luther King Jr. once said”The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice”.On April 4,1968,King was shot by James Ray at a motel.

       

The first part of this quote means that people that revolt will still shake the roots of americas slavery until everyone realizes that it is time to see the light of justice. This quote reminds me of one of Dumbledore's quotes from Harry Potter: "We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided." This makes me think of MLk jr.’s I have a dream speech. This is the part I thought of, “I have a dream that one day down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; that one day right down in Alabama little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.

I have a dream today. 

He had a dream that one day we will be united, and Martin’s dream lives on to be shared through the history books as time goes on,  his powerful words are to be taught to students all around the globe and to be taught of his idea that all people should live equally, live hand in hand and to have equal rights.

At a whopping age of 15 YEARS OLD! That's really amazing and that means he can move on to university sooner. So after that he became a Baptist minister and activist who became the most visible spokesman and leader in the American civil rights movement. In 1955 he led peaceful protests and taught many people to fight with peaceful words not violence. He taught everyone by example how you can fight to change the jim crow laws by just believing you can and doing what you can. Rosa Parks sat near the front of a bus a white man showed up and yelled at her to get off that seat so he could sit and stand near the back. Rosa Parks refused and later got arrested. Martin Luther King Jr heard this news and decided to lead a peaceful protest against buses. Many people walked miles and miles to get to their locations. Even in burning weather and cold weather, they still got there. The law was removed and now buses were desegregated. Martin's protest had worked he kept protesting and protesting and met someone named Coretta 1953-1968 they married and they had 4 children: Martin Luther King |||,Yolanda King, Bernice King and Dexter King. Martin wanted them to live in a world where there were no laws that segregated them. He didn't want his kids to feel the way he had when he was a child. So he fought harder, many people including kids were hosed,beaten and jailed. Even through all that he kept fighting for what was right. His house got bombed with his kids inside just because of what he believed in but kept fighting. He gave the “I have a dream” speech to nearly 200,000 people. His dream was to bring justice,equality and kindness to everyone around the world. He got his Nobel Peace prize at the age of 35 becoming the youngest man with the honor. Even when everything seemed bad he kept going. He traveled to different places around the world with segregation and tried to stop segregation until one day… He was shot and killed in Memphis,TN by an assassin in 1968. Even with him dead, he remains in everyone's hearts and will be remembered as a hero. His legacy changed a ton of things and his work changed the world.

After reading Martin Luther King’s quote, “The whirlwinds of revolt will continue to shake the foundations of our nation until the bright day of justice emerges.”  I think this means that people will not stop protesting until freedom arrives. Martin sacrificed his life to save others and stop segregation.

On the third Monday in January we celebrate Martin Luther King's birthday.

When Martin Luther King Jr. was little he saw signs that said “White people only” he didn't know what they meant so he asked his mom. His mom said “ You find them all over the world. You can't go to those places. They are for white people only”.When Martin saw those signs he said he felt bad. His dad was a minister and he said big words that Martin wanted to say so when Martin got older it became a minister too. He said big words too. He believed instead of war, peace. Instead of fighting with fists, fight with words. One day Rosa Parks went on a bus and sat down. A white man came over and told her to move, but she didn’t so she got arrested. People started a protest not just for that for everything they did to black people. Martin walked along with them the whole way. Everyone got arrested for a night or two but came right back out and kept protesting. They finally got what they wanted. They got rights to things that they couldn't do before. After that they kept on protesting. Martin Luther King Jr. made a speech. In his speech he said “I have a dream that one day little black girls and black boys will come together with the white boys and white girls”.This speech went around and everyone started changing. Martin went all over the world to protest with people. He went to this town to help protest but someone shot him who didn't believe in what he stood for. Still to this day he changed our world. He is a HERO!!

Martin Luther King was someone who didn't like that  white people were in charge and they could tell black people what to do like when they could tell him people to change their seat when they wanted to sit there . And when he was young he saw signs that said white only and this made him sad but he remembered what his mother said ¨you are as good as anyone¨ .  He would protest for things to change many times but he also went to jail a lot and he got a lot of  warnings and he did get threatened and people said they would bomb his house and kill his family  . One day when a black person named Rosa Parks was sitting in a seat on the bus someone said move , I want to sit here . After she refused to move she was arrested . Martin Luther King didn't like this so he and other people didn't use buses to  go anywhere and they walked everywhere even if the weather was cold or hot .

But one day he was only 39 when he died, he died April 4, 1968, he was shot on a balcony,  his death was very sad, but today we remember his speech “I have a dream” His speech was very inspiring for others, on January 17, we celebrate the day he said his speech. Martin Luther King jr inspired many people around the world, and that is why we celebrate one day of the year,just for him,Martin Luther King Jr.

Here is what I learned from the story “Martin’s Big Words”. I learned that he (Martin Luther King Jr.) fought through everything, sacrificed everything and pushed on throughout all the threats that other people threatened to him and his family. He got angry after what happened to Rosa Parks (a white man told her to get up and give him her seat on a bus Rosa simply said “No” and got arrested for that). So he started marching hand-in-hand with other white and black people who believed in what he said. He also stated this now very famous quote: “I have a dream that one day little black boys and girls will be holding hands with little white boys and girls”  He moved a lot of people with this quote and his protests, he and other people got arrested for this and other people tried to stop them but nothing could stop them so they kept moving on and didn’t give up. When others said “war” he said “peace”. He eventually reached politicians, and after long fought protests and demandings the politicians finally decided to stop segregation in the world. Now, Martin has won the war of segregation. After all of this Martin went wherever he needed to go to help other people. It was in April 1968 when he went to Memphis, Tennessee, he was on a balcony with his friends and he unfortunately got shot by someone. Unfortunately, doctors could not revive him and he died. So to this day we celebrate MLK Day on January 17th which is 2 days after his birthday.

Martin Luther King Jr. was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 15, 1929. Growing up, he always saw signs that read; Whites Only, these signs made him feel sad, but his mother always told him, “You are as good as anyone”. Martin's father, Martin Luther King Sr., would  preach using big words, Martin knew he was going to get big words too. Martin grew up to be a minister, just like his father, he used big words fight against segregation and discrimination.

 In Montgomery, AL, Dec 1, 1955, a black woman named Rosa Parks decided to not give up her seat to a white man on a bus and was immediately arrested.  This sparked  Martin to begin his journey to become He spoke all over the world, walked with people, talked with people, prayed with people, and sang with people. Martin went to prison 29 times for trying to end racism, did he stop? No, he keeped fighting for what he believed was right. Even when his and his family’s lives were threatened, he keeped fighting, his and his brothers houses were bombed, and he still pushed on. On August 28, 1963, Martin delivered his famous “I Have A Dream” speech, in front of the Lincoln Memorial, in front of over 200,000 people.

 A few years later, Martin was marching with some garbage workers on strike in Memphis, TN. On his second day there, he was shot on the balcony of Lorraine Motel by an assassin by the name of James Earl Ray. Martin died at the age of 39, and his big words still live on to this day.

 But that's not where Martin Luther King Jr stopped, he continued to go around helping people in America. 

The last time he went out to help people was when he went on strike with garbage collectors in Nashville,Tennessee. On day 2, he was shot in a hotel, he didn't survive. But his big words continue to be spread all around the world, thank you, Martin Luther King jr .

Martin Luther King.jr was an advocate for the rights of black people in 1950-1968. He marched with many different people and gave many different speeches, including his most famous speech “I have a dream” where he told a large crowd in Washington.DC about his dream as a little kid and how he was trying to make it a reality. He was a minister for 6 years at Dexter, Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church. rHe began his civil rights activism and started his first protest during his time at the church, the Bus boycotts of 1955.  The bus boycotts of 1955 were a time where black men and women refused to take the bus until they were allowed to sit wherever they wanted. This meant that bus drivers didn't get the pay they needed because of the lack of passengers. This ambitious act was started by a woman named Rosa Parks who refused to give up her seat to a white man in 1955, this fueled Martin's protests and marches to end segregation. Although he died in 1968, His name still gives a powerful message to people all over the world. And that is why we celebrate Martin Luther king.jr’s birthday, to 

celebrate the end of segregation.

Martin Luther King Jr:
Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) was born on January 15th 1929. His real name was actually Michael King Jr., his Mother decided that on his birth certificate. In his childhood, he was a part of the christian religion. He would read the bible every day with his father and his brother & sister. When he was 6, he began to go to school, named Young Street Elementary School, and he made friends with several people. However, one time, white parents stopped King from playing with their kid. They said “We are white, and you are colored.” This stopped King and he talked to his parents about this. His parents made a long discussion about the history of slavery & racism in America. King’s parents were against discrimination & oppression from white groups of people. His childhood grew up to affect his adult-hood. 

1955: Bus boycott

Martin Luther King Jr. , now a man, led the Montgomery bus boycott as a young & powerful person with other ministers. The boycott lasted 385 days, and it became so tense to white people that his house was bombed. Even with this, he still went on, walking with the individuals who wished to boycott the bus. Eventually, a supreme court justice case of “Browder vs. Gayle” caused the Montgomery bus boycott to an end as the conclusion allowed black people to sit on the bus without giving up their spot. This was a good accomplishment and the beginning of many protests Martin Luther King Jr. will conduct. 

1957: SCLC (Southern Christian Leadership Conference)

In 1957, Martin Luther King Jr., Ralph Abernathy, Fred Shuttlesworth, Joseph Lowery, and other ministers formed the SCLC, or the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. However, Martin was forced out of his position in the COINTELPRO Program. Even with this, King and the other ministers continued to fight for desegregation in the southern states. 

1958: Stabbing incident

Martin Luther King Jr. one day in Harlem, while signing books for a department store, was stabbed by a person named Izola Curry. Curry thought that Martin was collaborating with communists within the SCLC. This proved to not be true, and Martin survived the stabbing incident, given aid by doctors & officers. He recovered after this, even though being hospitalized for a couple of weeks. 

1960 Sit-in: 
A group named the “Atlanta Student Movement” was pushing to desegregate businesses and public facilities. While planning for an October sit-in, they asked Martin Luther King Jr. to participate in the sit-in. They conducted the many sit-ins, and many people were arrested including Martin Luther King Jr. Most attendees just stayed in prison for a couple of days except for King, who was sentenced to four months of hard labour however this didn’t last long because he was transported to a Maximum Security Prison, which were only reserved for violent crimes, and King only protested. This affected the 1960 presidential elections, where Nixon and John F. Kennedy made an urge to make a factor that Martin Luther King Jr’s sentence was unjust and John made his brother Robert in charge of his presidential campaign and he put pressure on the southern authorities regarding Martin’s safety. 

1961: Albany Movement.

In 1961, the Albany Movement was organized and made by a coalition of anti-segregation individuals and Martin Luther King Jr. as it’s de-facto head. This movement wasn’t a success, and had many arrested and Martin Luther King Jr. once again was swept up in the arrests. The judge gave him two options: Pay $173 in fines or face 45 days of jail time. King chose jail. However, 3 days into his sentence he was bailed out by an individual. After this mass-arrest, the Albany Movement began to fade from relevance and eventually dis-integrated. 

1963: Martin’s time to shine

In 1963, he had two plans for mass-protesting: One in Birmingham, and one in Washington.  

The first conduction was in Birmingham, where the SCLC conference was held and Martin’s final intent was to create panic and chaos within the entire area to eventually open the door for negotiations with the Alabama politicians. The Birmingham protests worked well, and caught the attention of America nation-wide. The local police and fire departments were using high pressure hoses and dogs to fight off the protestors, even the children. And Martin was arrested for the 13th time…. Out of 29 arrests. Even with this, the Brimingham protests were some-what of a success for Martin. 

The second one, in Washington D.C., was the most recognizable protest King had ever organized. It was here he gave the “I have a dream” speech. This speech was phenomenal, and American’s  nation-wide were seeing this in television, on the radio, or in-person.

1968: King’s Assassination.
In 1968, while fighting for workers who were being paid unequally, a man by the name of James Earl Ray shot him in the cheek, and he died that day. Millions of American’s felt this, and so began the race riots in many large & key cities, protesting the death of Martin Luther King Jr. 

To this day, his accomplishments are still recognized by american’s today, and his legacy will live on forever.
