Introduce the skill to the player and explain the usefulness and how this is a fundamental in Volleyball
2. Instructions and demonstration
Detailed explanation on the skill in terms of the fom and the posture of how to execute it. Live demonstration to make it easier for the students to see and have a better understanding. 
3. Check on their form
Get the students to perform the form after demonstration and correct their mistake. Encourage them if they are doing it correctly. 
4. Drills
a. Students are told to form a line and I will toss the ball to them and they have to use the digging to pass the ball to me successfully and maintain the correct form while doing this. 
b. Get students to perform the digging skill against a wall. And I will supervise them by walking around and watching them do the drill. Correct them if they have improvements to make on the skill. Encourage them if they are already doing good. 
c. I will join the students to form 2 pairs to perform a rally with each other. Lining up at 2 sides, once the student digs the ball to the other side, they will go behind their queue and wait for their turn again. This is to concentrate on them moving to receive the ball. 

The drills are in a form of progression to show the gentile's taxanomy in terms of difficulty of the drill from easy to challenging. 
Debrief

Clear demo and coaching cues (verbal focus), but the students should be standing and 'follow the leader'. A side demo should be done too. Coach tossing the ball to students is justified, as some cannot throw a ball well enough for peers to receive. Using the wall is not a good idea as students are not skifil enough for that. Rather, use Gentile's Taxonomy and design progressive tasks. Say, from body stability to body transport, no inter trial variability to inter trial variability. I suggest we move away from the notion of following what coaches did in the past. We should apply what we learnt and make a positive difference in the volleyball circle. Changes are what we need.
