To me, this is all so wonderful and refreshing to hear, but I don’t know how I would ever implement inclusion fully in the outdated education system and curriculum that is current? How to we teach to all learners? It feels like we need a full curriculum over haul to do this, which definitely feels overwhelming (and exciting we are even talking about it). Is there a way to incorporate this now, in the systems we have currently and do it effectively to make sure everyone feels like they belong, whilst making sure education is meaningful for all? Particularly as not all mindsets (including leaders), are just not there?

(I don’t know if I’ve explained my brain thoughts well at all here!)

I am loving this positive view of IEPs. I have in the past found them overwhelming and not sure how to give everything my students need to succeed. It really bothers me that some of my student's can slip through without the correct guidance that they need as my class numbers are large and I can't always meet all their needs daily on my own.

My takeaway is that to create this type of strength-based environment, it will require a shift in thinking, more physical supports in the classroom (so that those who want them can access them), more adult supports in the classroom, and more money in the school system. How do we advocate for this?

So from a teacher's perspective (especially workload), I'm almost imagining a one pager for all students and planning.

For the topic they are teaching, they start with the learning continuum at the top.

underneath is gathered ideas of student interests, UDL strategies for the children in their class, then at the bottom are any individual strategies for those pupils that may need it.

I'm imagining this as the front pager of planning, that teachers can use to guide all their lessons for one topic. You then aren't looking at multiple IEP's (but obviously referring to, to guide you), are shaping your lessons from UDL and are lot having to create multiple lessons for different pupils.
