Her actions are politically significant because she is standing up for human rights that are being violated. Her objective is to bring back the human rights people should have. To explain, it is not necessary to take away the lives of children just because their actions were against the law. There are plenty of ways to deal with the situation, such as putting the children under a supervision program; this would be a much better solution compared to taking away their lives. The impact of it is extreme because putting people to death is incredibly serious. The reason being is that death is irreversible and you cannot bring the person back to life. This is essentially taking away the rights of people to live. In addition, it also impacts the parents and family of the children because many people have children and it is really depressing to lose someone important in their lives. It also impacts a large amount of people because a large percentage of the world is made up of children. Studies have stated that there are about 1.9 billion children in the world, which means that they make up 27% of the world’s population. Furthermore, this impact is long lasting because it affects many generations as this law is set. Everyone makes mistakes, especially children since they are not fully developed yet and have not learned all the rules of society. Children are the hope for the future because they are the ones who will be able to create change in the world. For that reason, if this law ends up executing majority of the children then the new generations will not be able to have chances to improve the world we live in. People should be able to learn from their mistakes in life instead of being put to death. Therefore, if this law does not change then it will continue to affect future generations. Lastly, many people have conflicting opinions on this topic because some believe this solution of executing children is for social justice. However, many also believe that it is not acceptable to just kill children for a mistake because they are not fully developed yet and they still have many things to learn.

Her organization has raised thousands of money from people worldwide. The goal of this organization is to put an end child executions and put pressure on the government so they could change this law. She has been campaigning for a change and the petition has collected 350,000 signatures from people worldwide. However, this law has not been completely changed yet. The government has been pressured and have been deciding to stop child executions but they reneged. They still believe that continuing child executions are for social justice for breaking the laws. Despite the stubborn mindsets of the government, Nazanin Afshin-Jam is still working hard on this issue in order to completely convince the government and prove that child executions should be ended.

She has agitated by giving speeches on these issues and speaking out her mind of what she thinks is right. A 17 year-old Iran girl named Nazanin Fatehi was getting sentenced to death for stabbing a men when he tried to rape her and her niece. Nazanin Afshin-Jam heard about this story and launched a campaign to free the young lady. Her campaign successfully raised $45,000 and saved the young girl from prison. She also published a book called “The tale of two Nazanins” to educate and empower young women that everyone can make a change in something as long as they put the effort into it. Her book has raised awareness on this whole issue because it is based on a real story as she puts in a lot of effort to save the young girl, Nazanin Fatehi. Her organization of Stop Child Executions are gaining more and more awareness and many people donated money to help end this issue. Besides, she has also taken some of the money from donation to provide shelters for abused girls.

She was born in Iran but immigrated to Canada when she was about 10 years old. From a young age, she has been taught that everyone should have human rights. She has a deep passion for human rights and wants to speak up for those whose rights are being violated. In Iran, when she was about seven years old, she was really frightened and worried when she saw the scars on her father’s back. Her father was a hotel manager who gowast beaten a lot and even taken into custody by the Revolutionary Guards. They accused him of playing inappropriate music and allowing men and women to mingle at the hotel. Although his father was simply just doing his job, he still got sent to prison and even tortured in prison. Nazanin Afshin-Jam’s personal experience has put a message into her mind that she has to do something to help and change the laws that are violating human rights. She wants to be the voice of voiceless by putting in her best effort to make a change, keeping in mind the laws in Iran. For example, Nazanin received an emergency email asking for help about an Iran girl getting sentenced to death for stabbing a men to tried to rape her. She decided to go out of her way to help the young girl, and this also inspired her to create an organization called Stop Child Executions to help saves the lives of children. She is now the president and Co-founder of Stop Child Executions.
