How do you determine if a student should be referred to a special education services?

Understanding IEP process helps me better support students who may need special education by knowing what each student needs to succeed and adjust the teaching to support them. I will also collaborate with the teachers, parents and specialist to create the best plan for the student. Follow the legal requirements for providing special education services. Track progress how well the student is doing and make changes to help them improve. And, provide the student the right support and resources they need to succeed.

Some of the steps to take if you suspect a student may require an IEP is to observe and record the students struggles and write down specific examples, share your concerns with the parents to see if they have similar observations, collaborate with teachers and school staffs for their input and ask the school to evaluate the student if he/she needs an IEP.
