He was in college at the time, but he was on summer break. He had nothing to do so he decided to umpire because he played baseball in highschool so he had prior knowledge of how baseball was played. As everyone does he started out with little kids and making little money. As he progressed as an umpire and starting umpiring older kids and tournaments, thats when money started to come in. For me umpiring works perfect because I am 15, can't drive, have a flexible schedule, and have prior knowledge of baseball. After that I went to a mechanics training session to  learn the basic movements that an umpire will perform. This money can go towards saving for a car, college and food. The most important thing I am taking away from this project is learning the responsiblity of having a job. The biggest challenge I faced was gaing the responsiblity and courage to ask questions on how to be a better umpire.
