Haughey qualified for the Summer Olympics in Brazil in 2016, which she was at the age of 19. Haughey was the first Hong Kong swimmer who reached the Olympic semi-finals in 2016  and the finals at the 2017 World Aquatics Championship in Budapest. She performed extremely well against the fastest swimmers in the world although she did not win the competition.

She was a student of  University of Michigan in United States, she studied Phycology there. The reason why she chose this university is because of its reputable swimming and academic programs. She worked very hard with her training and maintain good grades. She has training of three hours every day which juggle with study and hobbies.

Siobhan Haughey, whose father is Irish and mother is form Hong Kong, was born in Hong Kong in 1997. 
When Haughey was five years old, she started to have swimming lessons.In 2016 , she was at the age of 19, Haughey qualified for the Summer Olympics in Rio,Brazil and became the first Hong Kong swimmer to reach the semi-finals in the 200m freestyle event. Soon afterwards, at the 2017 World Aquatics Champions in Budapest, Haughey became the first Hong Kong swimmer to reach the finals.
Haughey trains at her school, the University of Michigan which is located in the United States and where she studies psychology, she chose the university due to its reputable swimming and academic programmes. Her schedule includes over three hours of training each day, which she must juggle with studying and her hobbies.
