The omen took the form of an object as his old shepherd's pouch. The omen took this form because although Santiago thought he was done with his journey, he never threw away the pouch. When he picked it up the two stones, Urim and Thummim, fell out from the hole he never sewn together. It is a call back from long ago, from the first time they fell out, and learn that he should not flee from his personal legend. It was supposed to serve as reminder for whenever he lost his way on achieving his personal dream. Took form of an object. There was a card hanging in the doorway of the shop saying that many languages were spoken in the shop. This intrigued Santiago because he speaks Spanish and everyone else Arabic. Going into a store with many languages there is an opportunity for someone here to speak his language and be the language buffer. The omen appeared in this part of the story because he needed to find a way to make money to get his flock. This omen takes the form of a butterfly. It appears in this moment because the old lady was telling Santiago that he needs to go all the way to Egypt to find the treasure.
