  • Determine that it is a fracture from signs & symptoms
    • Signs
      • Pain
        • Experience pain while placing weight, touching, pressing, moving the injured site
      • Recall/History of incident 
        • Cracks
    • Symptoms
      • Point tenderness
      • Deformity
      • Shortening of limb
      • Discoloration
      • Crepitus
      • Swelling
      • Loss of movement
      • Spasms
      • Instability
  • Can be done via PAM 
    • RSE
    • Primary Survey
      • LOC, D, A, B, C, RBS, T,O, P, D.P 
        • Ensure to palpate  and squeeze entire length of extremities  to find point tenderness during RBS 
    • Treatment
      • Immobilization only done when D.P has been made and before loading casualty into safety vehicles
      • Cut away clothing and expose any wounds
      • Sterile dressings to cover open wounds and control haemorrhages 
      • Check distal pulse and nerve function below injury site before and after splinting
      • Shift limb from original position to anatomical to feel for pulse if it is absent
    • Secondary Survey
      • Chief Complaint, History of Chief Complaint, Medical History. Medication, Allergies
      • Vital Signs
      • Protocols
      • Head to Toe Examination
