This audio allowed me to realise the fact that it is okay to be confused while reading. Many times when I stop reading it is because of frustration that nothing is going in my head and I do not know a lot of facts mentioned.
But she clearly mentions that we need to get comfortable with not knowing everything. This intern is an opportunity for you to learn something new and do research.

My goal: To approach books with the intention that it is okay to not knowing everything. To keep continuing with reading even at the times it's hard to cope up with the flow.

The podcast helped me to the realisation that we often just keep on reading what we get comfortable with - we never really try to step out of our comfort zones. And when we don't do that, our growth stagnates. The audio made me realise how important it is, especially as IB English students, to keep reading genres and books that challenge you, and it's completely okay if you don't understand even anything at the start. That's how our reading skills develop.

My goal: To start reading texts which I wouldn't have otherwise bothered picking up, to not lose reading as a hobby even when I'm too busy, to read a little every day.

"when you break out of that hole of mirrors and open yourself up to what the world's stories offer, amazing things can happen" - This sentence from the podcast resonated within me. It led me to a realisation that sometimes we feel that we have read enough or that reading is too tiring. However, we fail to see that there are books in this world beyond our imagination and when we read a book a like that, we are once again captivated by reading. These books are often those that we generally avoid immediately. The podcast also made me realise that it is not necessary to understand the book completely at first. It is all part of a process. As you learn more about a book, the extent of your imagination keeps increasing making every other book more and more interesting.
Goal- To read books that I never thought I would read and to know that it is okay to not understand everything but always continue reading.

The spoke about how we should read something we would never read because that takes us to worlds we’ve never been before. It also showed us that it
was okay to not understand the book completely and not know the point of the book as it is all part of the process of reading. The podcast made realise the importance of reading in life. It also threw light on the fact that we only read what we're comfortable with and thus never grow.

My goal: To approach fiction books with an open mind, read a little everyday and not give up on the book I have started. At times, I have noticed that I just read certain things for the sake of reading, but now, I hope to understand and appreciate the book as a whole

We are all bound by our reality. We are living in our own world and are shaped by our own beliefs. We are restricted to what we think is true. We may think that we are aware and knowledgeable to our surroundings but in reality, we are all living in a merry illusion that we have created for ourselves. It is crucial for us to break out our own illusions so that we can sympathize and accept the reality in which others live in.

We must always strive to go beyond of what we may think is the truth. A good way of doing this is by reading books. Books possess the cultures, traditions and perceptions of people from different social, economic, political and regional backgrounds. Books can help us in breaking the barriers that exist between us and unite us all together in future.

Goals: My goal is break through of what I perceive as the truth and what I accept as a part of my reality to understand and accept what others go through in their daily lives. I want to be able to develop an empathetic quotient by which I am able to empathize and accept the realities in which others live in(Different and diverse perspectives). And I am sure that reading books is the way ahead.

Ps - Happy to be part of the book club.

This podcast helped me develop an understanding of why its important to expose ourselves to different genres of books and made me realize how important it is for us to get out of our comfort zones. In order to grow, we need to look at the world from multiple perspectives, and this means that we have to engage ourselves in different kinds of books. Every genre has something to offer, and we shouldn’t let our preconceived notions of a particular genre get in the way of exposing ourselves to a whole new set of ideas and beliefs.

Goal: To expose myself to different kinds of books, and read them with an open mind. I also think that this book club will be useful in terms of engaging in thoughtful discussions after reading each book and also ensuring that I read more regularly.
