         <title>What is the Functionality</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>It allows the creation of interactive lessons (known as 'courses')&nbsp; that can be incorporated into a VLE such as Moodle. (See the image at the left for an image of a course)<br><br>This could be a simple succession of text slides (like an uninspired PowerPoint.) The user can navigate through the content. The learner can be given choices about how the content can be navigated.<br><br>More inspiringly, it can incorporate images, videos, Flash animations, sound, slide shows, URLS...<br>Hence it can integrate with content created in other ways eg Prezi or PowToon.<br><br>It can be used for adaptive leraning, where leraners take different paths, depending on the outcome of tests (how much they understand)<br><br>You can incorporate assessments to test and review what the learners have picked up. These can be self assessments or be picked up by Moodle gradebook.<br><br>There are templates for courses, for different types of course pages and for assessment types.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Currently, we use Moodle a lot in our courses. As has already been mentioned, Moodle integrates well with this type of package (technically as a SCORM package)<br><br>I believe the e-Learning team have already have used it to author content for the college.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>We currently have several courses that make use of uploaded PowerPoint files that the students read (or other notes.) These would be more effective if replaced by Udutu courses, especially with assessments.<br><br>Long term, this give us a way of structuring Moodle Content by having it accessed via a Course, rather than being picked from a long list on a Moodle page</div>]]></description>

         <title>What are the boundaries in the organisation for use of this technology</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There are no obvious technical or organisational boundaries - it already has some use and integrates with Moodle<br><br>One issue might be the time that creating a course takes, compared to running up a quick Prezi or PowerPoint - training and consultancy would be needed to ensure Udutu was used in the most effective way.<br><br>This would especially apply to use for adaptive learning<br><br>Some learners may not have the discipline or skills for this sort of self study.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br></div><div>There may bebarriers to the use of smartphones/other devices in college.<br><br>One issue just getting learners to put the phones away afterwards! Also phones provide many distractions.</div><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Kahoot allows a teacher or instructor to ask&nbsp; a group of people a set of questions in real time. Typically questions are displayed on a whiteboard and players make choices using an app on their phone, an app on the tablet or by accessing the website on a PC (other combinations are possible)<br><br>The most popular use is for quizzes which test learning (or previous knowledge) in a fun, competitive environment.&nbsp;<br><br>Other uses include polls and surveys<br><br>The tool forces questions and answers to be succinct.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I would principally use it to evaluate prior learning and assess whether/how much learning had taken place.<br><br>It could also be used to find the range of class opinion on a topic before or after a discussion - using a poll or survey.<br><br>One useful feature is that it forces the teacher to summarise learning points succinctly as punchy questions and answers - which may make thees easier to learn.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I often get students to collaborate on a design or to mark up a document working on flipcharts or print-out. Sometimes they collaborate on an electronic document, but just one tend to become the scribe. This would enable them to collaborate electronically on a design, a document or just reviewing a web page, an image or an idea. All would have an equal chance to contribute.<br><br>A teacher could use it to provide feedback on an ongoing group project</div>]]></description>

         <title>What are the boundaries in the organisation for use of this technology</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In many classrooms the networks perform extremely poorly and this could make this sort of technology unresponsive or unreliable.<br><br>This sort of technology is really meant for remote collaboration and it could be used by students to collaborate toegther outside the classroom (or even communicate with the teacher.)<br><br>Inside the classroom, collaborating students would probably wish to sit together - would this make aspects of this redundant? I think it could still be a richer experience than just working on a paper flip chart.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>
