I'm open to all critique! Specifically, I would love feedback on the hands and how I should approach coloring it and how the proportions look! I would also be open to hear ideas on how I can make the background stand out more- I was thinking of creating a pattern with summer themed objects to create a dream like vibe, but I am unsure with what medium.

I'm also worried that the facial features might look off since the faces are so small, so I'm not sure if I should add them or just leave it blank.

I would also want to know if there's any extra details that would make the piece more intricate. I was planning on adding sprouts in the bushes and also wind in the sky.

I'm open to any and all critiques, and I would really appreciate anything regarding to how to fill up the background. I am currently planning to draw some robots standing on the ship, but I would like to hear any ideas y'all have. As for the sky, I am planning to make it filled with galaxies and stars, as it's supposed to be in space, and I want to make it a blend of different blues and purples with the spirals being green.

I am in no way finished at all, The critiques that could help would be for the angles or perspective, it was meant to be more of a wide out shot but now I'm not sure. Also I'm still debating on what medium too use because paper is nice but I feel like I want to do this digitally.

This piece is an exploration of my theme of the universal language of food. After the midpoint critique, I made sure I went back in with the cone to shade and lighten certain aspects of the cone to make sure it lined up with the light source. This piece specifically focuses on the idea of summer, as ice cream is a treat that is enjoyed this season (especially in the Texas heat!) in countries everywhere in many different way. This ice cream also ties into the patterned background of items that also illustrate ideas of the beach/summer. I tried to make this piece bright and colorful to evoke the nostalgic memories of summer. I’d love to hear any feedback!

As the introduction to my theme, summer nostalgia, I decided to create a story following a boy experiencing the seasons, patiently waiting for summer to return. This first piece depicts him venturing through a fall forest, where he encounters a bright green leaf. Reminded of summer greenery, he stares in awe and reminisces the warmth that was present just a few months ago.

After the midpoint critique, I decided to lighten the sky in order to emphasize the orange tones of the piece, add starker lines in the trees, create more textures in the trees and background, darken the clothes of the subject, and add a haze/speckled shine in addition to the main light.

I took everyones advice on the sky, using watercolor and gel pen to create a starry night.

My theme is the negative impact man has on the natural world. In this piece, I wanted to explore human-caused forest fires. Nearly 85% of wildfires in the U.S are a result of humans (unattended campfires, burning debris, malfunctioning or misuse of equipment, and improperly disposed cigarettes. This isn't my usual style, as I wanted to emphasize the uncontrollable and destructive fire with unpredictable sparks of flame. The hand reaches down to put out their cigarette, the hot ash causing this rapid spread fire. And while this wasn't my main intention, I also put the person in a suit, as a nod to capitalist greed and it being a driving source of resource depletion (I'm not saying it is a direct cause of forest fires, but it definitely isn't helpful in terms of fire management and other environmental factors).

The overall intent of this piece was to visualize an internal struggle of mine, and something I'm sure many people can relate to. Through the illumination of the healthy foods, I wanted to show how the foods that are good for us end up being the foods we feel inclined to eat, even though it isn't always what the heart wants. After the midpoint, I shifted the placement of the foods into locations that would guide the eye better(like using thirds). I also added more foods, placed them closer together, added bugs, and added utensils to make it look fuller. I also tried adding more folds to the blanket, especially next to the trees, and made some of the food look eaten to make it look more alive.

For my studio project, I wanted to focus on the idea of how cultures interact through food, specifically in my own household. Growing up Asian American, I’ve noticed that my childhood has been a blend of American and Taiwanese culture, and this reflects in the food items in my house. In my pictures so far, I show how various cultures/circumstances influence my household, from the spices/condiments in my fridge to my cats. I’ve also played with filters and lighting and I’ve settled on this one, which I think evokes a nostalgic vibe that I enjoy and vignette sort of frame. I’m not done shooting, but let me know your thoughts on the ones I’ve taken so far– I’d love to hear everyone’s ideas!

My story with these images is about how ADHD affects food habits. Instead of going for what is actually good for me, I only want to get things that are fast, require low energy to put together. When the only food available doesn't fit into that catagory, its like nothing is edible. I decided to represent that with the fake food I found all over an Ikea store to illustrate my point. Please give me some critiques on the shot types because I'm not super confident with some of these. Some of them look a little samey, but I'm not sure what others to use. And Im not sure what order to put them in either. Also I'm going to adjust the colors later, I just don't know how edited were allowed to get with the pictures yet.

And I included two versions of the cake shot because I couldn't decide which one I liked more.

For my photo essay, I wanted my story to be a flame in the dark to show that there is "light in the dark." The flame symbolizes hope. For the first 2 pictures, I used a lighter which shows like the first spark of hope. The next picture shows the flame being passed to the candle which shows transferring warmth or hope. The 4th picture shows passing warmth to hands. The last 2 pictures show the flame burning and then slowly being extinguished. I would like my pictures to be more cinematic and also there is a glare in some of the pictures which I hope to get rid of. I also would like some additional photo ideas with this concept. Thank you!!

I decided to go to one of his training sessions, and take some candid shots of him mentoring and teaching some younger basketball players. So far, I have about 5 pictures that I especially like and want to include in my final. Any and all critiques are welcome, and I would especially appreciate any suggestions about different compositions or shots I could do. I am still planning on doing shots with more dynamic, and more with my coach directly interacting with his students.

For my photos I wanted to express that feeling of disrealization. I wanted to go for a sorta fever dream vibe to enhance a off feeling in the art which took me down the rabbit hole of paranoia. Paranoia is represented in my photos to show the disconnection from reality and focusing souly on the mind. Each photo has a element that the figure is experianceing but isnt real, telling a story of fighting with there inner emotions/mind. I wanted to know if there anything I can imrpove that will further add the unsettleing feeling that each photo presents. I do also wanna know if there anything that can be added so I wouldnt have to rely on editing ( all editing was drawn/created by me )

My photography essay explores nostalgia by focusing on images from a children’s swim meet. When I was younger, I looked up to the older swimmers with admiration, and now I find myself in their place. Through these photos, I capture both the innocence of childhood and the bittersweet realization of how time has changed my role in the sport.

I would like feedback about what other angle to add, I was thinking photos of the kids swimming. Also I am not sure on whether I should replace the bottom left photo, it is a bit in-cohesive with the others, but I like that it adds another a new perspective into my photo essay of the objects that give me nostalgia.

With this project, I wanted to capture the atmosphere of a Chinese grocery store and the way it feels to me. For me, a Chinese grocery store is really different from a conventional grocery store. I wanted to show the unique aspects of it, the colors, the foods, the interactions, and the smells through the photos. I plan on going back to get more pictures, so I want to know what other subjects or interactions I could take pictures of and the order I should arrange them in because I feel like it lacks a storytelling element right now. Also I need help picking between the two photos of the family and the two pictures of the seafood. Additionally, I would also like input on ways to close out the story or provide an ending (I'm currently thinking of people checking out, but I'm not sure). I have a picture of people checking out but I need advice on how to frame it better.

Since my theme is the negative impact humans have on the natural world, I wanted to approach the concept with a unique lens. My plan with this project was to roam instead of actively searching for a specific thing. Doing this, I came across a few concepts. I saw a Deere excavator and thought it was ironic that they'd name equipment used for excavating natural terrain based on the animal. The looming and domineering machinery essentially replacing the animal in its own natural habitat. For the other pictures, I came across transmission lines. Sometimes transmission lines light up at night for aviation safety (in my pictures it wasn't dark enough, though, so I'd like to go back later). I wanted to explore the fact that here in Allen, we can't see the stars very well but we can clearly see lights on structures. I also took a few pictures of neglected PetSmart fish, but I haven't transferred them yet. I'd love feedback on these concepts and composition (are the concepts strong enough, how could I change the framing, etc.). I'll definitely edit the photos too, so any ideas for color grading?

At this current moment I have no photos I'm going to submit for my essay. Unfortunately the plans I had to take photos over the weekend were messed up and I was stuck w/out any ideas. As a result I had to change my theme to make it something more accessible (something along the lines of nature engulfing man made creation - I have a lot of places in mind to take photos of for this). Because I have no actual photos, I decided to include photos I took over the summer(on the left) that I feel reflect the theme I have in mind. I also included my shot list/thumbnails of a few possible shots (on the right). Also on the right is a photo I took of one of the locations I want to photograph, I went with my friend sometime last year(the photos aren't part of my essay but good context for what I have in mind). Sorry this is a lot of writing, regardless what I'd like critique on is maybe just some possible locations or walking trails that might fit what I have in mind! anything helps really!!!!1

I took the critiques I got from the last version and really tried to apply them here. One of the main things I focused on was getting all the joints in the shot this time, which made the overall composition feel more complete and intentional. I also adjusted the lighting based on the feedback; instead of leaving it too bright, I turned it down so the soft reflection from the TV would cast light on us. That subtle lighting made the scene feel more natural and atmospheric. Overall, I’m happy with how it turned out, and I think those changes made a noticeable difference. Taking those suggestions into account definitely helped me improve the final result. If any of y'all have any feedback, let me know!

This is my new set of photos after the critic. I have decided to trash the other idea of fever dreams and inter struggles.i have realized the impact of the editing on the photography and I have switched into a new form of my theme, last weekend I had the opportunity to go and visit family in New Orleans, I took the opportunity of my ride home to capture moments of the drive that made me stop and think. I thought about the drive home and how I am lost in the moment, I am lost in the moment of daydreaming, the part where we’re I’m not there but my body is. The photos represent the moments that my mind has caught and focused on, leaving me in a bubble made of my own thoughts and feelings. I wanted my photos to symbolize the hyperfocus on a certain part of an area and how that leads to mind thinking and thinking with no general end . For example the second photo with the power lines has only been shot up close. The street or the background is not visible, this represents the limited view I had when I was daydreaming. I don’t remember the things around it, just the single spot . The order of the photo goes from the start of my drive to the end, the signs on the ride indicate where I am .

I reviewed all the critiques I received and did my best to apply the feedback in my final composition. I got a lot of feedback on how my photos looked too similar and in my final project, I attempted to take more varied and different shots, which I believed made a huge difference in the entire photo essay. I also tried different colorings and experimented with many light leak overlays to add more to the composition. I also included a new shot where uses the candle's shadow as an element of the composition. I'm open to any other feedback !! Thank you

I leaned more into the theme of the transition from being on the road to arriving and settling in at home by taking photos of my family finally getting to eat a home cooked meal.

My photography essay explores nostalgia through photos of a children’s swim meet, a place that means a lot to me. When I was little, I used to look up to the older swimmers and imagine what it would be like to be in their spot. Now that I’m one of those older swimmers, I see the same excitement and admiration in the younger kids that I once felt. These photos capture not just the innocence of childhood, but also the bittersweet feeling of realizing how much time has passed and how my role in the sport has changed. From the midpoint, I volunteered at another meet and captured kids swimming as well as more action shots of particularly notable parts of the meet.

This is the paleontology theme, the modern animal photos are aligned with their extinct Predecessors, The monitor lizard is linked to the Tylosaurus below which is a type of Mosasaur that is related to monitor lizards, A softshell Turtle above the extinct Archelon, a car sized sea turtle, A cheetah above a Edaphosaurus which are both synapsids, mammals are the last living branch of synapsids that exist, and finally A golden eagle in the focus with a Tyrannosaurus Rex in the background which shadows a once great dynasty.

These photos reflect escape through immersion in the present moment, paying attention to things that we tend to overlook.

As of now, I've created 17 flowers for my paper sculpture. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to create the lamp; before purchasing/thrifting the lamp to use for this studio project, I tested my paper components on my own bedside lamp. It was terrible. There were too many creases in the base and the rod was way too flimsy (cardstock resulted in unpleasant crinkles). The lampshades I made were also very unsuccessful (tissue paper leaked too much light and ripped easily, construction paper let minimal light through, and cardstock let no light pass through). I think a diorama would be a lot more doable, but I would like some suggestions on if I should keep trying with the lamp (and advice on what to do because I'm lost) or if I should switch to the diorama. I would also like suggestions on if I should make more flowers/add more variety.

I have torn apart my old project, removing all eyes so that I can add and sculpt in glass eyes and eyelids instead. I have also cut off any ears or chunks of the sculpture that felt off or weren't correct to a cat's anatomy. I plan on continuing to rebuild the jaws and general mouth shape of the jaguars with paper and masking tape like I did when I first started this project. Then I will refine the nose and mouth with foam clay, I am hoping to sand the foam down once it hardens. I would love any recommendations on how to make the mouth realistic and any other materials I should consider using that are lightweight so that I can save on the foam clay. Also, tips on the fur would be helpful! I plan on using cotton that is brushed out but any other ideas would be lovely!

My original plan was to thread wire inside the skull, but that's not impossible anymore because it's already filled with aluminum foil balls. I plan to use hot glue to attach the legs (fingers) to the sides of the skull. If time allows, I might also add some red clay on the bones (to simulate flesh). The top right was an example. I felt like the shape of the skull was kinda weird.

I've also started carving the body out of foam. My original plan was to do a decomposing corpse, but I've decided to go by a more "autopsy" kind of thing so the main focus is the plastic inside the stomach. I'd like advice on a few things: I don't want the white foam to be visible through the feathers, should I cover it w/ some sort of cloth? Paint it? Should I make the wings articulated or still? Should I keep the plastic inside the stomach loose or glue it all down? I'm open to any and all suggestions.

These are just ideas , but that's essentially what I'm going for! I honestly don't know what to ask for critique because what I'm intending for my project to look like is a little difficult to visualize from how the piece looks right now! also this piece isn't technically "3D" but me and Mrs D agreed that I could do it regardless since it was something I showed prior interest in doing!

over the break, i was able to experiment with the vellum paper and succeeded in creating a lampshade that didn't obstruct too much light. however, i thought it would be best to save it for a later project after doing more research and planning (i have ideas for a summer themed lamp rather than a spring themed one). for 'spring in my step,' i took a lot of ideas from the critique: someone suggested a wider variety of flowers, so i included some 2D white+pink flowers to contrast the 3D ones i made. there were many people that suggested switching to a diorama, so i did just that. however, to make the scene seem less boxy and rigid, i added several growing ferns to create a more organic shape and give the diorama an overgrown look. as for the connection to my theme, i wanted to focus on the season of spring, and how warmth slowly begins to permeate the world around us (mainly through blooming flowers and flourishing trees). because it precedes summer directly, i wanted my character to express hope and relief as he realizes that his journey through the seasons is finally coming to an end.

During the break I was able to add more character to my build. I first started off with filling in the empty space that I mentoned during the mid-point. I did this by adding clay to the open space areas, i wanted to create some elevation to enhance the enviorment of the cups and to develop a walk way. I then wanted to add some man-made elements such as the powerlines and signs throught the build to show the viwer that life is taking place. I didnt want my town to look as if it was abandoned but rather a old and run down town that has been around for years. I stuck with alot of dull colors to futher show that the town is centerd to be around the time of night leading for me to install lights on the inside of the homes. I did this by wiriing the lights from the bottom of the structure and looped them into each cup . The cups in the build are decorted with paint to show them being aged and well lived through. I balance out the orginal design of the cups and the added paint I added by useing adverizments , it also helped to represent human life and to help contrast the powering design on the cups. I wanted this to connect to my theme of disconnection to show the safe space in comfort food and the mind building a inner world of how the individual finds peace in the flavor and joy of a specifc food.

After the midpoint, I remade the bao, and this time I closed off the top and made it a lot smaller. I also decided to add a bite taken out of it, listening to critiques. I'm really glad I made these edits because I think they make the piece look a lot more interesting and realistic. I also made the rest of the meal over the break. I used foam clay for the food and painted/brushed it with eyeshadow for details. I also added a gloss varnish over it, which I think tied it together very well. I ran into trouble with the boba because it started floating to the top of the resin. I ended up pouring out most of the resin and just leaving the bottom part and allowing the bottom to harden first, and then making more to pour on top. However, by then, I didn't have much resin left, and the color didn't really match, so the boba didn't turn out as well as I had hoped.

From the midpoint, I made a fewww changes. I made a new structure because my original one wasn't that great. I decided to make my piece slightly smaller because my original was toooo big. To begin, I used wire to create a torso structure and covered it with masking tape and foil to give it some thickness. I also paper mached the exterior to create a more stable structure. On the inside, I used fake moss and flowers/plants to fill the chest cavity and used glue to hold them in place. By having nature emerge from the torso, I wanted to show how people use nature as an escape to release tension and reconnect with a calmer state of mind :)))))

From the midpoint, I worked on finished the horses body. However, after consideration, I decided to make the horse into a unicorn, and have its front lifted up so the horse felt more majestic and magical. Originally, I wanted to make the figure on the unicorn a little boy, but after making the unicorn, I felt like I wanted to stick with a more whimsical theme, so I made it a mouse instead. I put the mouse in pajamas and gave it a storybook to express my idea of how storybook and fairy tales can contribute greatly to a chil'ds imagination and creativity as they grow up.

I struggled a lot with what to make so regardless of how much I added it just felt too lackluster. The blocked panels in the background are washed with watercolor, unfortunately it's not so visible in the photos. I added a few more figures and the large black gate. For critique, any ideas for where to go from here would be appreciated! It still feels really lackluster to me so I'd like to go back and add some things, any ideas would be nice :>

i accidetentally broke the clay figure from my mid-point while tryng to insert the umbrella in the arm (I made it with wire and decorated a lot... it was way too heavy for air dried clay). I also decided from all the feedback I got last time that this concept was really too simple. i decided to revisit my ideas/thumbnails from my first project and decided to make a metal wire sculpture to represent a moment of uncontrollable thoughts. I think the looping of the wires in the figure shows instability really effectively. I hung beads to mimic stars and planets. I made this around a outer space design to emphasize the greatness of endless thoughts we have. I also painted over the figure with glow in the dark paint which brings out the unsteady pose even in the dark.... connecting to my theme of vulnerability during the most unexpected moments.

As a swimmer, I cannot wear jewelry in the water, so this dish becomes a place to set it aside before I train. The koi fish and surface of the pond reflect the beauty and tranquility of water, a space that feels like home to swimmers, but also to the life beneath its surface. Creating this allowed me to honor the sport that shapes my daily routine while also appreciating water as a shared environment as a universal home.

During Thanksgiving break, I experimented with different types of clay, including air-dry and polymer clay. I discovered that air-dry clay best suited my needs. Sculpting the bear was not the most challenging part of the project; rather, the most difficult aspect was adding color and detail. I found it hard to add detail to a piece that hadn't fully dried. Overall, I think the final result turned out better than I expected, though I could have improved it further. My goal was to create a unique perspective on athletes choosing something more desirable over what might be uncomfortable. The bear symbolizes that the comfort of his honey does not affect his true intentions and desires.

While making the dress I had to restart so many parts due to a miscalculation in my measurements and I also changed the length of the sleeves. I still haven’t hemmed some parts yet, so a few edges are just raw fabric for now.... Also added some flare to the shoulders (you can only see when you wear it) 😅

For the beads, I followed the midpoint design and mixed orange and red paint to get that warm shine.

This is the main base of the sculpture before I add a primer and base color of paint. Then, I plan to add fur and brush on pastels on top of that fur to add texture. Unfortunately, as of now, I don't have enough fur or brushed-out yarn to do that. For what I have as of now, I used my original project 3 and built on top of that with foam clay, first adding paper to build up the faces more and the nose bridge, then I went back on top with foam clay to add even more detail. Unfortunately, I ran into the problem that the foam clay would expand, which I hadn't expected, and due to my room environment, it would dry more slowly than expected. So I had to wait for the clay to dry and then add more detail. I also ran out of foam clay and used a new foam clay that didn't expand as much. I used baked clay as well to make the teeth, which also took forever to dry, but was worthwhile as they worked exactly as I planned when it came to sticking them in the foam clay. Additionally, I used glass beads to make the jaguar eyes, which you can’t see clearly in the images. After adding detail in the mouth, I went back again to add skin around the teeth to make the snarl better. Although I have everything I set and planned, I am curious where I should add the little house cat, and if I should add a whole cat body. As for the location, I am thinking the cat should be below the lamb because that's where I have found the most space in the piece. Lastly, I plan on getting more small canvases for the jaguar heads, so the piece can be moved and easier to support.

I sorta got carried away with this painting. I really wanted to capture something darker within my theme because lately I feel that I have been striving for my work to be beautiful instead of meaningful. My artwork is of a girl who is struggling to hold in her built up emotion of pain and agony. Each soul or face represents an emotion that is trying to escape from her. The emotions are shaped like wings to show that she has lost her innocence and her purity in life. I wanted this to connect to my theme of disconnection by the fact that she has been holding back her pain and hiding it from the surface, and now it is forcibly making their way out of her. I feel like it about done but not really. I am not very happy about how dull the colors came out when it had dried. From the picture it looks better becase of the adjested lighting I did when I took the photo. I also want to know if I should add more shoulders and torsos to the painting intead of just heads.

I've been having a little bit of trouble figuring out what to do for this project. I have two ideas that I like:

The sketch attached above - Growing up, my family grew fruit trees (peaches, jujubes, persimmon, tomatoes) in our backyard every summer. For the project, it would show my family holding comically huge fruits.

One of the sketches I did before the fruit one was about winter and how the gloomy weather affects mood. I'm not too sure what I'd draw for this concept, but I do need a winter-themed piece.

I'd like advice on composition for the first idea and also on what to do. I'm just really lost for this project.

I'm doing this on Procreate, but this specific image was the sketch for it. This piece is based on the "Last Guard" specimen which was found in the yixian formation; which is a bone bed consisting of 25 young Psittacosaurs; including one older juvenile around the age of 5. The older individual was seemingly acting as a babysitter before their demise. It is debated whether a lahar caused their death or if their underground burrow collapsed. Either way; they are forever locked in an eternal embrace frozen in time.

Instead of having nature overtaking a man-made structure, I am planning on doing a more direct interpretation of my theme of overgrowth. I am planning on doing a semi-realistic drawing of a man being swallowed by nature, representing both overgrowth and the cycle of life: how everything that is man and made by man returns to nature. I haven't gotten crazy into detail yet, but I essentially wan to show vines, twigs, leaves growing up his neck. I am unsure yet what to make his expression. I am between making him in pain or at peace. Advice?

For this project, my intention is to critique people who are cynical about how humans affect the environment without being properly educated and without truly attempting to create change. They overlook the millions of people who live holistically with the environment and those who dedicate their entire lives to helping it. I wanted to visually represent this with a large, looming figure essentially pushing away the people trying to do good.

One thing I always noticed in my previous pieces is that I typically portrayed the negative sides of ADHD. While that is defineitly a side that needs to be seen, I also wanted to show a win as well. So these are storyboards for my next project. Its going to be a thirty seconds animation about this blob figure (me) trying to get out of this hole by herself, but she is too amorphous to do so. It isn't until she gets some external help that she is able to get out of the hole. But even once she is free, she cannot abandon those supports, so she takes them with her as crutches instead. It's supposed to represent how structure (timers, calenders, changing life habits) can help manage ADHD symptoms, and how these strategies can continue to be useful even when you aren't in the "worst of it" anymore. This is actually not as far as Ive gotten, the animatic for this animation is already complete. So I guess my questions would be if the idea is clear enough, or if it might be a bit confusing. (I know the sketches are really rough, these were only the thumbnails)

So, I planned to use origami to complete this project. My idea is to fold multiple origami shrimp and demonstrate the process from raw shrimp or sushi to the finished origami shrimp. I already have a general idea of how to fold the shrimp, but I don't know what to use to hold them together. Just having the shrimp alone would look too plain. So I'm considering making an umbrella and hanging the shrimp from it with strings, so that when I rotate the umbrella, the shrimp will also rotate. Alternatively, I could make a plate and place all the shrimp on it, then put my logo in the middle of the plate (the logo hasn't been designed yet). (The image on the left is an unfinished umbrella top and the shrimp, and the image on the right is a sketch of my idea.) More ideas on how to make the background will be perfect. :)

The process of embroidering beads its really time intensive so I've only managed to partially complete the outline of the moon. In terms of critique, any general critique is appreciated but I would also like critique in terms of color, I have my color thumbnail and value thumbnail posted but I'm not too happy with the colors so any ideas are appreciated!!!

The blob character (me) is stuck in the bottom of a pit and can't get out on her own. Its only when the two beams come in and create a ladder is she able to get out. The animation doesn't show this part, but after she gets out, she takes the ladder with her, and it turns into crutches, which she uses to walk away. It's supposed to represent how external structures like calenders, reminders, and schedules can help manage ADHD symptoms, and how even when the worst is over, you still have to use those same strategies in your daily life. As for feedback, I'm not really sure what to do for the colors. I'm thinking the background will be black and white, but I don't know wht i want the blob figure's color to be.

I ultimately decided to switch my project again, moving away from the comically large fruit concept because I felt I wouldn’t be able to execute it in the way I envisioned. Instead, I returned to working with gouache and continued exploring humor. 'until i say so' reflects a longing for warmth during the colder months and connects directly to my overarching theme of summer nostalgia. In the piece, my sisters are dressed in winter clothing while I stand out in a beach outfit, emphasizing the silly contrast between seasonal reality and personal desire. I was inspired by Zara Larsson’s Midnight Sun, particularly the lyric “summer isn’t over yet,” which I found relatable and funny. I used that idea in my title: summer isn't over 'until I say so'.

I changed my artwork to be more centerd around her rather then the emotions. From the last critic I got feedback on how the girl was washed away within the bnackground so I wanted to center her more. This time for the shadow figures I didnt more body action to have a more agony feeling that they are trying to exscape from her. Before it felt really bland just to have the faces and it didnt really give the intinal pain i wanted to go for. I ended up exploring a different way to represet the background then just a soild spot light, instead I used these clouds/dust to show the agressive wave of shadows flying out of her. This connects to my theme of disconnetion as it shows the built up of inner emotions becoming overwhelming and is not forcably coming out.

I wanted to create a short film, highlighting the food my mom makes and the beauty of a mother’s cooking. Through the film, I tried illuminating the hominess, nostalgia, and care of a mom’s cooking. I wanted to show how a mom has such an important role in making money, cooking for the family, and taking care of everyone, balancing it all without complaint. As a result, it makes a mom’s food not just about the taste, but the process that goes into it - one of time and love, finally creating a meal that is special to each person and a meal we remember our mom’s cooking by. It's kind of long so I have it linked https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IY5Ht3T1nXBbcRJjO_wlLt-2XscaJJCa/view?usp=sharing I don't love how it turned out so any feedback to make it better is appreciated!

The Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated in September in many Asian countries in many different manners. In my Chinese and Taiwanese household, we celebrate by eating traditional foods like mooncake, pomelos, and walnuts. I wanted to showcase my family's heritage by portraying how we celebrate this festival. I chose to create my piece using watercolor to try to create a dream like effect on the audience to demonstrate my feelings of nostalgia of growing up with these traditions.

For this project, I was inspired by Sergio Toppi. I was drawn to his mosaic-like composition and his surreal story-telling. I was aiming for a similar stylized, distorted anatomy. My thread of inquiry isn't trying to shame people, but to shed light on certain topics, so I wanted to explore a side of it that no one really talks about: the negatives of cynicism. There are people that fear-monger and spread misinformation, but don’t really do anything to help the environment. I wanted to focus on a specific phrase that annoys me and the kind of person that says things like this, by having a large, distorted figure holding Earth and yelling at people, essentially "pushing" them away. I scanned the drawing but the red looks a lot lighter on Padlet than on my phone..

The picture is really unclear but I've basically filled in like almost half of the moon, the beads are mainly 11 mm seed beads but I've also incorporated a few star shaped beads to add some visual interest!! Small sculpted figures are placed throughout the piece in various swimming motions, to incorporate my theme surrounding my sport. Conceptually, the piece explores unity and individuality by showing swimmers traveling along the same path while moving in distinct ways. Although they occupy the same body of water, each figure follows their own rhythm and journey, symbolizing how swimmers progress at different stages and speeds.

From the midpoint, I changed aaaa looooootttt. I brought the figure closer to create a more direct emphasis on him. I also made the figure hold a glass breaker to really show his want to escape. His arm is held back by the background figures to portray how escape is something that cannot always be reached. I wanted to show a figure trying to escape the systemic lifestyle, which is why he is clothed in a suit and on a train. The people in back have swirls on their faces to show how the systemic lifestyle is a never ending cycle of uniformity and boredom. I kinda don't really like how it came out just because I had to improvise a lot due to the time crunch, but any feedback would be awesome sauce 😼😼😼

I was mainly for designing this umbrella because the one I used didn't meet the requirements (the design on the origami paper wasn't mine). So I drew a pond on it with watercolors, the water flowing in a circle, with fish and shrimp in it. Then I folded some paper shrimp (raw, cooked, headless, shelled). Finally, I hung them under the umbrella. I think I could improve it by: making an place where I can keep the umbrella in place so people (like Eli) don't have to hold the umbrella; making a slot to hold the umbrella in place so it can stay in any position; and perhaps adding more details to the shrimp and the umbrella.

I probably won’t put every single juvenile into frame because of the angle and the impression that more are behind the older one, deeper in the burrow. All in all I like how it looks so far so I’ll see where it takes me!

I started flocking the sheep and applying fur to the Jaguars. My main feedback I am looking for is ways to apply the fur and perhaps a better glue to use instead of modpodge. Im thinking getting a glue that I can easily brush on that won't be as thick as hotglue.

So basically for this studio project I wanted to do a narrative quilt telling the story of my dad's childhood, and how he had to walk through the poor, rural villages of China in the freezing cold for hours just to go to school and get an education since this story inspires me a lot. I haven't actually started on the quilt yet, because I wanted to get some feedback before starting since I can't really restart after beginning the project (also funds are low and I can't buy any fabric right now). I attached a rough sketch of the scene I want to depict above, and any feedback on it (especially how to try to tell my story better) would be greatly appreciated. I also added pictures of examples of narrative quilts as well as fabrics/patterns I want to use to add more of a cultural aspect to the project, and any suggestions on fabrics and whatnot would also be very helpful. Overall, any comments would be awesome. Thank you!

I really only need y'all to look at this one anyways, because this is what I want advice on. Basically I've been working on the cardboard base by sketching out the design and cutting out strips. I'm making a big elephant head and putting dollar bills on the tusks to represent poaching. Originally it was gonna be the entire head, but I was worried about how much space it'll take up, so David suggested I do a side profile. I'd like advice on whether I should do the side view or front. I'm also not sure how I'm gonna make the money. I want it to look realistic, but I was also thinking maybe I should do a unique design that adds to my theme/concept.

My project five is sort of a conclusion piece to my theme. It contains references to all my previous pieces. This is supposed to show how each of these presentations of my adhd are still a part of the same person, despite their contradictory nature. I’m almost done with it, I just need to cut out a few more elements and glue them down. What I’m unsure about is how to make the artwork not feel flat. In the previous paper pieces done in this classroom, they had levels and depth, but I’m not sure how I want to do that with mine. Any suggestions would be helpful!

During this project I wanted to go for somthing that i was most comfortable with and it was the use of pencil becase of how big this piece is. I wanted to capture the moment of fading away from reality to show that becase of many conflict in ones life it is taking a large toll on them. For the individual, she is of a stone figure and she is cracking and breaking becase of these hardships and struggles in her life. She is holding her heart which is the only real part of her as she is trying so depresetly to hold on to that last piece of reality she has left. I had also added wings to my piece becase i wanted to try and create a trend with my work so they can all becase realated to eachother. I also think it adds more to her story as it represents her purity , innocence , and kindness that she has but is slolwy lossing as she fades and cracks away. Im kinda looking for a way to improve her face as it sorta look odd and im not sure how to fix it. I think she kinda looks like minecraft steve :( lol.

For this studio project, I wanted to show a child's escape from an alcoholic environment. I was planning to use color pencils for the main figure and the dolls with a pink/purple color palette. In this image, I drew the alcohol bottle a little too forward so in my final I'm planning to push it back so that it is in line with the dolls. The alcohol bottle is dressed in a doll's dress to show the innocence of a child being corrupted by the parents' substance use (specifically alcoholism). Similarly, there is a 6-pack beer carrier which I was planning to put dolls into. My plan is to cut the figure, the dolls, and the bottle/carrier out and sort of elevate them on another paper, giving them a 3D-ish look. I was also thinking about adding arguing speech bubbles in the empty space at the top but I'm not sure if it'll look cohesive. Any feedback or suggestions, specifically concerning composition, color choices, and the speech bubble idea, would be really appreciated! 😸😸😸

My artwork aims to depict an elderly man's life, filled with regrets and unfinished tasks. I placed the old man in the center of the picture, holding a photo album, symbolizing his longing for his family. To the left is a mirror, reflecting his life in his youth: he was preoccupied with homework and had no time for family and friends. To the right is the shadow of his middle age: he is busy with work, meaning he no longer has time for his family.

Median: Charcoal and graphite

This is Concavenator, an early Cretaceous Carcharodontosaurian that inhabited Spain Characterized by the tall hump on its back. The perspective is panned at the tail where he’s just chillin in a wetland. I sketched this idea out in VR and wanted to finalize it here, a lot more to go, might add some amphibians, potentially crocodylomorphs that lived alongside it.

It's going to be plain and white on the outside but when you look inside through a small hole, the walls of the apple will be colorful and covered in collages. I'm unsure what material to use for the outside so any recommendations for the apple itself would be helpful. For the inside, I have linked the collages I have made so far. I want to do kind of like a rainbow color scheme where each color represents a theme. I have collages made for each color/theme. I need help deciding if I should colorize/edit the photos to bring out the specific colors or leave as is because I am planning on using different colored lights to shine on each specific section or ditch the color scheme and just put everything together in one collage. I'm also planning on adding words from magazines, going out to take more photos, and incorporating 3D foods to put inside as well, but any suggestions or improvements to these ideas are welcome.

Below the image of my progress, I have a digitized very sketchy version of what I plan for my final to look like. The old lady will be holding a children's stuffed teddy bear and be wearing a children's nightgown. In terms of critique, I want to know what I should make the background out of, I'm pretty sure I'll just end up doing acrylic paint but anymore ideas are appreciated. Also, I planned to make the night gown and teddy bear out of puffy paint but I'm also not sure. Also, I didn't give the old lady eyebrow hairs, I'm not sure if I should, any ideas are appreciated! I was thinking of painting over it but I'm not sure how that will look with all of the bumps.

I begin adding more of the charcoal shadowing to the piece and fixed up her proportions. I bulked up her hands to fit her shoulders and slimmed down her shoulders so her head wouldnt look so big. I wanted this to connect to ym theme of disconntion through they way it presents a visual level of what she feels on the inside. The cracking is her loseing who she is and falling into a state of loss.

From the midpoint, I changed some aspects so the piece didn't feel too crowded. For this piece, I wanted to portray a child's escape from an alcoholic environment. The drawings and dolls portray her innocence and escape, showing her finding solace through playing with toys. The way that the dolls' hair is messy and not groomed showcase how the little girl doesn't know how to take care of herself. The alcohol symbolizes alcohol 😼😼😼😼😼. The wine bottle on the drawer is in the way of a times table poster, showcasing how this environment affected life outside of the home; in school and academics. Similarly, the teacup next to this bottle represents her playing tea party, showcasing the little innocence (cos the teacup is so small) that hasn't been corroded by alcoholism. The broken drawer and piece of clothing show a dirty environment, reflecting the nature of her household. #fanksforlistening 😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼😼

Although my exhibition focuses on how swimming has shaped my identity, my photos from Morocco push that idea further by placing me in a completely different environment. Being abroad took me out of the structured, repetitive space of the pool and forced me to adapt and stay present in unfamiliar situations something swimming has trained me to do over time. The same sacrifice and resilience I’ve developed through the sport showed up in how I navigated a new culture, where I had to be open, patient, and comfortable with discomfort. In these images, I’m drawn to moments of both stillness and movement, which reflect the focus and clarity I feel in the water. Overall, this work shows that my identity as a swimmer isn’t limited to the pool; it influences how I see and move through the world, shaping my mindset even when I’m far from where my journey started.

From the midpoint, I only really changed a few things for the big project, it was a little hard for me to do because I don't know how to paint but I think I made it work. I sewed in the dress to the canvas instead of making it out of felt and just scrapped the teddy bear idea cause I couldn't make it work, the dress and details for this project look a lot better in person. In terms of my project 4.... I still don't know why I put myself through the pains of embroidery but it came out looking better than I expected so I'm happy with the outcome! Any critique is appreciated!

Intention: When you first walk into an Asian grocery store, they always have newspapers laid out for you to take. While the newspapers are the first thing you see, once you go inside, you unlock a vivid world of colors and smells. Apple symbolizes this experience as a tribute to the place where all Asian kitchen magic starts. However, it also has a hidden or double meaning behind it. Apple shows how you never know someone fully until you take the time to get to know them - and it’s not easy - demonstrated by the hard to access holes. While someone might seem one way on the outside, once you truly understand a person, you discover the full picture - not just the part you judge without truly knowing. Apple communicates something I’ve always struggled with - the feeling that no one really understands who I am because they don’t try to look past the “perfect” life or quiet persona.

Soooo you know how people pin insects to position and preserve them in a certain way, I was planning on creating a mixed media piece of this where I'm the insect. When pinning, it is very intricate and fragile, but to showcase my message, I was going to show the pins as aggressively placed and forced (pinning her down so she can't escape kinda thing). In terms of media, I'm not toooo sure on what to use but I do want to use a sort of iridescent plastic for the wings. I also don't really know how to position the figure buttttt this is a very rough idea so idkkk

My idea for this portrait is to depict myself as a magical girl from like a 2000's style anime, I would want to draw myself in that very traditional and girly anime art style but in a very contrasting setting, maybe an office or something just very glum. Another idea I had was to draw a realistic self portrait but with specific traits like eyes, hair, neck, etc, drawn in the aforementioned 2000's anime art style. I don't like that idea as much but I think it fits more into the surrealist theme.

I didn't like how it looked so I changed to a bowl-like head holding candy and childish motifs and a storm brewing at the top with a hand reaching out and holding a clock to symbolize how childhood doesn't last forever.

For my abstract self portrait I did a collage but in a different style than my usual pieces. This piece is supposed to connect to my theme of identity through my sport by ending off my project with a final say that my identity is something constantly shifting based on my environment and is always subject to change. This is represented by the words that do not have an ending set in stone and the words on my face that symbolize the possibilities of how my identity will grow.
