         <description><![CDATA[<div>In "The Monsters are due on Maple Street", to be "the other" means that you're not like the rest, indifferent to one another, alienated. But being "the other" can go both ways. In the video, everyone suspected each other to be the alien. It kept going back in fourth between them all, creating havoc. The aliens were 'the other' to the humans, while the humans were 'the other' to the aliens.</div>]]></description>

The neighbors in "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street" are scared and worried their intelligence does not match the outsider, so that makes them a threat/enemy, a strange outsider, and use that as an excuse to kill them.</div>]]></description>

They start to feel different and everyone starts to change so when you dehumanize or alienate others they change and start  to feel separate themselves  </div>]]></description>
