We would all have grown up with that way of life not knowing any different. So really we wouldn't call it a ¨Utopian Society¨ we'd call it normal. But if we did transfer from the life we have now to a Society like the Giver it would be totally different. So people could get away with many crimes but have the others think it was okay.  People could also just slowly morph a society into a Utopia by telling all the children that they had to be perfect. Utopian Societies are supposedly completely fair. People in current time are extremely materialistic so having a life where everyone has the same thing wouldn't change the way people act.
