         <description><![CDATA[<div>Occurred as British soldiers stationed in Boston fired into a crowd of colonists who were verbally abusing and harassing the soldiers by throwing objects. Resulted in the death of 5 people and wounding others. Event was used largely as Patriot propaganda. </div>]]></description>

The purpose of the Townshend Acts was to raise revenue in the colonies to pay the salaries of governors (--&gt; remain loyal to Great Britain), and to establish the precedent that the British Parliament had the right to tax the colonies. Rebellion of acts led to Boston Massacre. </div>]]></description>

British General expected a reinforcement of troops but was let down and were soon forced to surrender all their troops. This marked a climax and decisive victory by the  Continental troops for the Saratoga Campaign. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Following Britain's aqquisition of French land following the French and Indian War, King George III set the proclamation to forbid any settlement of colonists past a line drawn along the Appalachian Mountains. This caused great dispute between the colonists who wanted to push on to new agricultually beneficial land. </div>]]></description>
