From the fact that they all have different names to the different holidays that they celebrate. Assisting students to identify their culture with help from parents teaches young learners that the differences they see make them special. Using books like "Your Name is a Song, and "All Because you Matter" helps students begin to see that their identity is important.
When students can identify who they are and the importance of where they come from a window opens.
