example 1
strengths: its categories of subjects are clearly defined, which can be understood easily. Also, the extra curriculum is able to fulfill students' well-rounded development.
weaknesses: the comment is supposed to be divided into "achievement and weakness" instead of just proposing general comment. Besides, the assessment is too fixed which may be adjusted to a flexible one.
example 2
strengths: the small aspects under every subject are very detailed, and the change of students can be recognized by comparing semester 1 and 2.
weaknesses: it is too academic that no activities are mentioned.
example 3
strengths: the checklist for personal development can provide students with a self reflection on themselves.
weaknesses: the subjects are too messy especially for general studies.

Example 1: The strengths the of example one are threefold while the weaknesses are twofold. Firstly, it can be understood by different parties. The data is expressed in a very clear and explicit way. There goes the name, there goes the grade of a specific subject, there goes the comment given by the teacher, and there goes the overall grade and impression of this student according to the evaluation keys. With all due respect, even a person with no education background can understand that this boy/girl did a good or poor job at school. However, it does not go on. The weak side of this aspect is that, even though it is clear to see for everyone, there are no tellings that why the student achieve the grades in this way. To improve, general comment can be added next to each grade given, such as adding "Good at reading, not too good at expressing one's feeling" next to the B+ grade of English language subject. Secondly, not only does this example provide the viewer with academic performance, the affective and psychological aspect of the student can also be delivered through general comment as well as assessment of conduct. Though, it can be argued that this is a weakness as these items are not detailed enough. To improve, the general comment part can be divided into the attitude of studying, responsibility, relationships with others at school & sociability, etc. The final strength is that the confidentially is ensured, considering only four parties, the student, the assigned teacher, parents and the principal can access to it according to the signature column on the sheet.

improvements
In the students’ reports, many parts of students’ learning are judged by general scores, which is not very helpful for students to have a quite clear idea about their own performance. Besides scores, teachers can provide more descriptive feedbacks. With descriptive feedbacks, students can know clearly about their advantages and disadvantages. Since teachers are clearer about the teaching content, they can provide some specific suggestion for parents to help improve their children. However, in this case, teachers’ burden will probably be heavier.

Janice, Bobo, Christie, Rosetta, Natalie, Joyce
Activity 2
In terms of strengths, it is clear for different parties to understand the performance of the student on each subject. Also, there are boxes of teacher's remark, which allow teachers to further describe the performance and learning process of the student. Meanwhile, there is a box for extra-curricular activities, which shows the all-round development of student if he/she has participated in some activities. The assessment of conduct is a kind of showing the psychological development of students, which conveys the importance of good behaviours and allows parents to know how their children perform apart from academics. While the box of general comments provides a place for teachers to further describe the performance of students, including both academic and behavioural.
However, as only the final grades of the subjects can be seen, students and parents are not able to review on students' performance on in-class activities and other details concerning the subject. Also, the card does not provide description of student achievements. For example, the awards that students get in competitions and the role of students at school (e.g. monitor, subject representative).
2.	A box for teacher to list the achievement of student should be included in the card. Also, teachers should be reminded to describe the learning process performance of student instead of general comments like "well done", "good job" in the teacher's remark box of each subject.

Example 3
1.	Unlike the common report cards, this report card does not show the marks for the subjects, which is quite good. To be honest, marks cannot always reflect a student’s real ability on subjects. For example, stress may affect their performance in exams, they may not be able to perform as good as usual. The academic part of the report card provides boxes for teachers to fill in, they can give different and detailed comments on students’ performance in particular areas of a subject. They can also give suggestions for students to improve in future. However, the options for personal and social development part are too few and general. This cannot reflect every student’s situation effectively and students cannot recognize the areas to improve.
2.	To improve, the report card can add a blank box after the tick boxes in each area of ‘personal and social development’. Teachers can then add extra comments about the development of students other than academic areas. For example, in the area of ‘cooperation’, the teacher can suggest student A to be more proactive in exchanging ideas with groupmates while she can also suggest student B to be politer during discussions. So that, the students and their parents can understand the situations at school and have improvements.

Q1 (Strengths and Weaknesses)
Example 1: This card can easily be comprehended by anyone, due to a simple grading system, explained in the card itself. It has also space to make additional comments, which gives room for more personalised and detailed report. It also has room for extra-curricular activities, attendence, conduct and general comments, which helps to make a global assessment on the student's progression.
As a weakness, it doesn't have a good basis for objective and evidence-based measuring.
Example 2: It has a very detailed matrix for measuring, making the results of the assessment very evidence-based and straight forward. It also has an space to refer to achievements and awards, allowing for more specific remarks.
As weaknesses, the evaluation system, while being objective and well structured, is not easy to read and understand for every person. In general, is only focussed on grading and achievements, not paying any attention to psychological or personal development.
Example 3: Information is easily and clearly displayed. It includes in-class and psychological progress. In-class report is very specific and personalised, and psychological development is very evidence-based, clear and straightforward. As a weakness, in-class assessment is not as objective as it could be, making it more difficult to interpretate by non-specialized observers
