This battle was more important than the last offensive battle from Germany due to them taking primary defensive after it ended. But the Germans knew that they had to take the offensive in the current state of the war because they were being pushed all the way back to their own territory. So they thought the only plan of action was to start this fight and push them off when all it did was weaken their army even more and lose even more territory. So with this being a lost battle the Germans were pushed all the way back further and further until they were against a wall with no other ideas or strategies to win the war.

August 1942, the Germans began their assault on Stalingrad with the 6th army and parts of the 4th Panzer army, the initial battle started with Germany launching mortar strikes at a lot of the city of Stalingrad. The reason Germany even wanted to invade Stalingrad to begin with was due to how valuable occupying the city would be, it is very plentiful in industrial space for supplies and most importantly the proximity to Volga River the main route of trade and military deployment that Germany could cut off. But nobody was prepared for what can only be described as carnage would ensue from this act. Germany had an estimated 800,000 casualties and the Soviet Union with an estimated 1.1 million casualties. But in one of the worst displays in the war 40,000 civilians died, this is what I meant by what I said earlier in this text. This war really showed what people would do to win it no matter what or who you would have to sacrifice to obtain it.

At the beginning all the Nazi’s did were implement some nonviolent policies mostly against the Jewish population in Germany but was somewhat tolerable. Well at least until November 9, 1938 the beginning of what is now known as Kristallnacht, a full on rampage against the Jewish community. With over 100 Jewish citizens dead and around 30,000 Jewish citizens sent into their newly mandated Concentration camps. If that wasn’t enough the Nazi’s vandelized Synogouges, Jewish owned businesses, homes, and even schooles were burned by these tyrants.
