After interviewing staff and students, our group reconvened and took turns sharing their findings through engaging in a talking chip protocol. This protocol allows everyone the opportunity to talk in the group and have their voice be heard. The following were some findings that

students gained through the interviews:

• Recycling has been an ongoing effort

• Bring back the “Green Team”

• Most people (7) drive to work while some walk to work (3)

• Create recycling posters to spread awareness

• On average, 3 hours a day are spent on laptops

After the gallery walk, students were given 10 minutes to write down as many ideas as possible to solve the driving question. Students wrote down one idea for each sticky note. When they were done, they added their notes to the poster; 239 ideas were generated!

After the gallery walk, students were given 3 dots each and were instructed to vote for their favorite solution/idea. 1 dote = 1 vote. The students voted on the following ideas and solutions:

Each student received a NUF test rubric and students provided a NUF rating (1-10) for each solution ( = you strongly disagree; 10 = you strongly agree).

During our next meeting, the Kindness Counters will start finalizing project details for the public product.

Students engaged in a Prototyping Protocol. This protocol provides students with the opportunity to create a representation (a physical model and/or a drawing) of the solution to our driving question.

Students continued to use Flipgrid to create short videos and Legos to show what the solution can look like. Students selected their Google Slides theme for their presentation.
