         <description><![CDATA[<div>Marriage imagery where Hosea was asked to marry a prostitute &amp; continue the marriage despite her unfaithfulness &amp; eventually still redeem her for a price helps me to appreciate the extent of God's love for me. Esp in chpt 2 when God takes the initiative to draw Israel back to a relationship with him shows God's grace towards us in taking the initiative to reconcile the broken relationship with us, ultimately seen in the sending of Jesus to die for our sins. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>the idea that without Christ is our one and only redemption can be seen in how the Israelites  foolishly relied on forces other than Christ and it brought them nothing but eventual death and suffering, and it is very much the same as when Jesus is out of the picture in life, everything is really just suffering and there is no eternal purpose to hope for.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Idolatry:<br>Hosea helps me understand that you cannot worship God and something else at the same time. As long as you are worshipping something other than God you are falling to idolatry.<br>God and sin:<br>God is loving and merciful but He is also just and cannot tolerate sin so there needs to be punishment for sin.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. See sin as more dangerous, esp how repeated sin can lead to a hardened heart and rejection of God. esp when i think of sin as just as 1-time off action. <br>2. Idolatry starts from the heart and leads to sin. When in our hearts  we worship other gods and are spiritually adulterous, it will manifest in outward sins. <br>3. God takes sin seriously but also is extremely loving and gracious. God is not just a distant higher being, but He loves wayward Israel like a father &amp; lover. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>2:16-23: God's people can only receive mercy and be a part of God's people because of Christ's death on the cross. The new covenant, new perfect relationship with God also only possible through Christ. <br><br>Hosea has helped me depend more on Christ as I realise that I'm equally sinful as Israel, equally deserving of judgment but now able to receive forgiveness only because of what Christ has done for me. Hosea also shows that God is not pleased with sacrifices but obedience to Him. </div>]]></description>
