We collected four test-tubes, along with another four that we use as covers and markers for the amount risen, and then proceeded to fill each of them with either sucrose, glucose, starch, or water. We then added 1g of yeast to each solution, filled the remaining space with water, until finally shaking the tubes to mix the solution. Once all of the tubes were ready, we placed them in the oven for 30 minutes. Lastly, we measured the rise of each solution.

Similarities: Both occur under anaerobic conditions and produce a little bit of ATP.

Differences: Lactic acid fermentation results in the formation of lactic acid and alcoholic fermentation results in the formation of ethanol and CO2. Lactic acid build up occurs in the muscles and ethanol and CO2 are produced during fermentation in bread.
