My mom said if we wanted more than this life, we would have to be serious about our education for our future. Myrta had to earn her way to pay for her plane ticket and maintain good grades to go back each year after that. When I turned 14, I was also given the opportunity to go back to Texas early with my older sister and followed her lead.
Summer of 2001- Marcel Rodriguez, traveled with us to Utah for a documentary on my oldest sister. To share her story of what it was like to be a migrant worker with a record of high academic achievement.

I feel that my faith influenced my outlook on the world and the root of me choosing to have values of kindness and love. This was my childhood church that eventually caught fire and burned down. We had to jump into units of study where the classes were currently and there was no tutoring program or remedial class to learn skills we skipped.
