Analyze: Oodles O’Noodles Babies- Meek Mill

Meek Mill used lots of word play to get his message of inspiration and the struggles his people have been put through across. The purpose of the song was to depict the struggles of living and growing up in a impoverished/violent neighborhood. With this comes fathers getting locked up and sent to jail leaving behind single mothers and children. In addition, the presence and use of street drugs is a major component in the lyrical value of the song. “His ma'smoked the crack while she was pregnant so he can't even help that he crazy. He goin' to jail was inevitable, forreal”. Children are being raised in absurd conditions with little to no possibility of “making it out”. The tone is very reflective, with an angry undertone. However, behind all of this, comes an inspirational message in that life does get better and not everything is doomed. “Yeah, they called it the projects. They put us in projects”. The repetition of the word, project, fits perfectly with the word play of the line. It causes the listener to realize how messed up society is, especially with the cycle of poverty. The overall effect on the listener is that they become angry about what is occurring to people, and inspired to make a change.
