         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Topic:</strong> Accessibility: Is your school fit for all?<br><strong>Educational Context:</strong> Post Primary<br><strong>Target Learners: </strong>Transition Year students in a post primary school. <br><strong>Learning design approach: </strong>ABC<br><strong><br>Learning Outcomes</strong><br>By the end of this session learners will be able to:&nbsp;</div><ol><li><em>Define</em> what an invisible disability is.</li><li><em>Articulate</em> what accessibility is and why it should be apart of every school.</li><li><em>Analyze</em> the layout of their classroom/hallway and <em>identify 3 </em>items that are <strong><em>not</em></strong> accessible and at least 1 thing that is accessible for the disability assigned to them.&nbsp;</li><li><em>List</em> and <em>explain</em> the modification(s) they would apply to their classroom/hallway to make it more accessible. &nbsp;</li></ol><div><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Aim: </strong>The eductaor will attempt to enter the class room using a wheelchair, demonstrating the doorframe is too narrow. Educator will not explain this to the students, but will inform them that it will be self explanatory further into the lesson. <br><br>The students will be presented with 3 words that are scrambled and will be asked to decsramble them. Students will be permitted to work together. Students will be informed these words relate to todays lesson. <br><br>The descrambled words will be written on the board when the students have solved them<br><br><strong>Resources:</strong> Flippity, wheelchair, overhead projecter, access to wifi.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Aim: exploration of props to give the students the opportunity to experience a disability. Students will be asked to perform a simple task with the prop to illustrate the difficulties a disabled student may experience on a day to day basis, further illustrating the importance of accessibility. <br><br>Students will first work in groups and take part in a hearing loss simulation via the internet. The students will be asked to write down what they hear. <br>The students will then all get to experience the physical props brought in and act out activties under the close superverison of the educator. <br><br><strong>Resources:</strong> Overheadprojector, access to wifi. <br><strong>Physical Resources:</strong> Wheelchair, crutch, vision distortion glasses with cane, tenz machine and headphones connected to speech delay app via Ipad.</div>]]></description>

Students will be given a handout to fill in with their answers, and asked not share with other groups. Students will be asked to identify <em>3 </em>things that could be made more accessible for their disability and identify at least 1 already existing thing that is accessible about their school.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>
