One thing I have done by using constructive learning is to measure the distance by cornhole boards. I have been taught to measure but do not have something to measure by all of the time so I use my feet and step off the distance between boards.

Another example of using constructive learning that I have used is when we would have several emergency calls back to back and wouldn't have time to restock before going on the next one. If we went to a call and needed a tourniquet to slow down or stop bleeding I could use a blood pressure cuff in the place of one.

An intentional example that I have experienced is obtaining my life and health insurance license. I read a book, studied my notes, and done practice examples to be able to take the exam to get my licenses.

Another intentional example would be me getting my EMT license. I went to class, studied, took test, had hands on learning, and took a test to get my EMT license.

Authentic Examples

A few authentic examples that I have experienced is learning how to drive and operate a rollback. I watched it be done but then I done several on my own and changed things I was doing to be able to do it better. I would utilize the rollback to figure ways to get vehicles out and to even to get the rollback out of situations that bystanders would think I was going to be stuck in.

Another authentic example that I have experienced is driving a car. Yes you have an understanding of what everything is to take the test but I learned how to actually drive by doing it. You learn how easy to let off of the clutch or how sensitive the breaks are as you drive and learn that every vehicle is not the same.

One way I have learned meaningful by cooperative is by working on an ambulance. When you have a new partner or have a "green" partner you learn how to work cooperative by discussing on the way to the call what equipment you both want and afterwards you talk the call over to see what you or your partner could do different to make the call go smoother.

Another cooperative example that I have experienced is working with people to get the insurance policies that they need. I have taken the knowledge that I have learned by doing and take their knowledge of their own finances and together we come up with a policy that is right for them.
