Many of us will feel a medical symptom and begin to research said symptom. Once we start reading on the symptom, we convince ourselves that we have a disease or illness.
Image:

Red Flag: Ancient Wisdom

Definition: Typically based on guess work and the belief of what ancestors have stated is true. Examples may include ancient Chinese medical practices, or even practices such as bloodletting (withdrawing blood to cure a disease) https://durhamcollege.desire2learn.com/d2l/le/content/231697/viewContent/2679255/View .
Connection: I have selected an image of the Mayan Calendar. My reason for this stems from the epidemic that the world would end in 2012 based on the predictions made with the Mayan Calendar. It was predicted that there would be no planetary alignment and thus creating an apocalypse. This myth was quickly debunked, as it is 2018 and we are still here. https://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/maya-world-end.html

Definition: All natural refers to typically natural medical practices, such as natural health, use of crystals, use of organic food etc.
Connection: Many ancient civilizations used various gems and crystals because they believed they possessed healing properties. Today, many people still rely on the healing powers of gems, and are even used in facilities such as spas. The crystal, such as amethyst is placed on a point of the body, and it contributes to healing. This is a great website for someone who is interested in learning more about the powers of crystals.
https://www.livescience.com/40347-crystal-healing.html

Definition: Someone of authority, such as a leader of a country or someone such as a teacher or parent to a child who states something is true, so it is believed even without supporting facts.
Connection: I have picked this video to use the commercial examples. In this case, celebrities will make an endorsement to sell a product and to make money of of the endorsement. They may not necessarily believe the function of the product to work, but because of their position of power (the ability to sell and appeal to their fans and supporters), it is easy for them to convince the public that the product does work and that the public should purchase it.

Definition: We want to believe because it has an underlying special meaning to us, such as the automatic belief in God (please note I am not arguing this or trying to disprove, I am simply trying to prove an emotional connection), as it is easy to believe when born into it.
Connection: This photo suits emotional connection well. Many of us can relate to having that battle between logic (representing our rational thought - the brain), and emotion (representing what we believe because it makes us feel good - the heart).
http://www.positive-personal-growth.com/the-battle-between-the-mind-and-the-heart.html
Image: https://www.google.com/search?q=emotional+connection+reason+for+belief&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjNnL3F9qjbAhUB2oMKHTvSAsIQ_AUICigB&biw=1366&bih=613#imgrc=sMP_pDvWAUt0-M:

Reason for Belief: Simplicity

Definition: Simplicity is a very easy definition. In respect for reasons of belief, it means in the simplest terms it is the "easiest" answer. https://durhamcollege.desire2learn.com/d2l/le/content/231697/viewContent/2679248/View
Connection: This is likely the easiest reason for belief to disprove. Seeing a medium or a psychic and having your future predicted is easy to believe, but is it realistic? Is it realistic to believe that the universe was created by an all-powerful being within 7 days? We believe it because it's easy. http://www.iep.utm.edu/simplici/#SH4a
Image: https://www.google.com/search?q=the+big+bang&tbm=isch&tbs=rimg:CeAwZqxpWNL2IjjFHQaBw5oGYJRQfjkFTrkP4DNab-AMT1WJP9QmLn1Z2bNenO3Di-QbrRXBoP1azqoviPAnLF5qGioSCcUdBoHDmgZgEb0I7ctWmIyPKhIJlFB-OQVOuQ8Rv9xFXz2nSd8qEgngM1pv4AxPVRHhkmNrAoIxmCoSCYk_11CYufVnZEeGkHSEkmEpCKhIJs16c7cOL5BsRRNnvUq_1rC2YqEgmtFcGg_1VrOqhF2zleHvmFu8CoSCS-I8CcsXmoaEcpUP7QbQHx9&tbo=u&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjRuNLd-qjbAhVp7YMKHY80C4YQ9C96BAgBEBs&biw=1366&bih=662&dpr=1#imgrc=a55NHwEAkzC1sM:

However, one person may perceive something completely different than another (e.g. Person A the dog is black. Person B the dog is blue).
