I can’t believe it— I actually visited Hawaii. It was a full week of unforgettable days. It almost felt like a dream that I never wanted to wake up from. From the moment I landed, the warm, breezy air pushed against my face, and all I could smell was the trees and the ocean breeze swaying. I decided to begin my trip at Punalu’u Beach on the Big Island. The sand was soft and jet black; it was something I’d never seen before. They had sea turtles resting on the sand, which was a surprise for me. I just couldn’t take my eyes off of them because it seemed like they had human characteristics: calm and sunbathing. I got on my board and went surfing (even though I’ve never done it before). Of course I fell a couple of times, but it was fun and definitely an experience. I couldn’t complete my trip on the Big Island without visiting their famous volcano. I went to the Kīlauea mountain, and oh my gosh, the glowing lava was absolutely stunning; I literally couldn’t believe my eyes. The glowing lava plus the night starts? Oh yes, a 10/10. The volcano is something that I’ll always remember. On the next day, I decided to visit this amazing restaurant that sold loco moco. The rice was well cooked, the hamburger and gravy were fresh with a perfect amount of seasoning, and although I don’t like eggs, I tried it, and it was probably the best I had in a long time. After I left, I was feeling some dessert, so I went to this dessert shop, and their shaved ice was top-tier. It literally melted in my mouth, and the cake on it was warm and soft. I just couldn’t bear any more. Later that week, I went to the Manoa Falls rainforest, and the veil was absolutely gorgeous. The waterfall smelled like fresh salt, and the dreams were just a nice view. The people at the rainforest were so nice and sweet, it made my heart melt. Before leaving, I knew I wanted to try something savory to remember Hawaii. I went to try mochi, and the butter flavor was sweet, and the texture was very chewy. Overall it was really good. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to Hawaii, but I knew the adventures I had would leave a memorable mark with me. I can’t wait to come back!

Loco Moco

The Loco Moco was something that I kept hearing about so I knew I just had to try it. The first bite was savory, warm, and just so worth it.

Mochi

The locals invited me to this restaurant and their first item I seen for dessert was Mochi. I heard of Japanese Mochi, but never Mochi from Hawaii. The first bite was just buttery and chewy, which was a pure island dish worth the hype.

Shaved Ice

Oh and I can’t forget the cold shaved ice cake. After the hot volcano, I couldn’t help but get some. It was colorful, fruit and so-so refreshing.

Punalu’u Beach

My gosh. The Punalu’u Beach was something I never seen before. The black sand, sound of waves crashing, and the calm sea turtles was unimaginable. It was beauty at its best.

Kīlauea

I just knew I wanted to do something adventurous. I visited the Kīlauea volcano and as I stood on the edge, i could just feel the heat. It was powerful.

Manoa Falls

The waterfall at Manoa Falls was absolutely stunning. It was definitely a tropical dream come true.
