He was born in Gori, now known as Georgia, Russia. His family was poor, but Stalin was very involved in politics from a young age, and was imprisoned multiple times for helping the bolsheviks by committing crimes such as kidnapping and robbery. Stalin is one of the most famous dictators of all time, most notably for his use of work camps known as Gulags, his 5 year plan to turn Russia into a world superpower, and for how many lives were lost in the process

Russia was not industrialized like the other countries were at that time, so that meant they had to increase production rates and work longer hours. Under his rule, there was free education and therewere over 61,000 schools built, and thousands of colleges as well. This increased the graduate percentage, giving more people the chance to get better jobs. There was also free healthcare, free pension, and free apartments. This drastically improved the quality of life. To put that into perspective, thats 10x the amount of jews hitler killed and 12x the population of Wisconsin. He made everyone do what he wanted, and treat him like he was god. Gulads help from 2,000 to 10,000 people at a time and people were expected to work 14 hour days at a minimum no matter what there conditions were and they didn't care if you died.
