I agree with Randy's argument because Bob's parents have seen him do horrible things and never lectured him about it. That caused him to feel like he had all the power in the world and that he could do anything. If his parents had whooped him at least once or twice, he would realize that he can't continue doing bad things or he'll continue getting in trouble.

I disagree and agree with this because there is a chance that if Bobs parents had hit him at least once that he would have hardened or gotten more violent and gotten killed sooner. I agree because hitting him just one time, would do so much. If they had just been more strict, he might not have jumped so many people.He would know that hurting anyone is crossing the line, and not something that anyone should do. I agree with what Randy said because Bob always got his way. He could always do what he wanted, and that's because his parents never said no. If his parents would have said no or given him a consequence for his actions, he wouldn't have been in this situation in the first place, and he wouldn't have gotten himself killed.

I do believe the discipline might've helped him to set a boundary and when to stop. If he had been disciplined he might not have ever beaten Johnny. The thing is if he were belted by his father, that would technically be child abuse, which is not okay.

While I do agree with the fact that Bob should've been more disciplined as he might've been more well behaved I do not think being hit by a belt would've helped much. Many children who have grown up in abusive homes could act out more violently to others so he could've been even more violent. Many children tend out to act out as a cry for attention and while that may not be exactly Bob's case he could've been acting out from something going on at home. His parents should've sat him down to talk to him or do nonviolent ways of discipline but if they were to belt him it could have a possibility of him being even more violent.

I agree because if he had been belted just once, just once he would have known what Johnny feels like and what he has to go through daily. However, I don't think that the whole problem would have been solved but I do think that the amount of fights and the big fight that Bob was killed in, would have been less and less extreme.

I agree because Randy said that Bob wanted to get in trouble, and if he did, he might have some discipline. However, if that did happen, Bob might have become defiant and reckless and become worse than he already was. But, he could have also been punished/disciplined and had some humility. I agree because his dad and mom's influence on Bob impacted his actions. If his dad had said no, or gave him some discipline, like belting him, for his bad actions, he wouldn't be acting out. He was trying to be bad, so he could get his parents' attention, so they would tell him no. His parents led to him getting drunk, which led to him trying to jump Johnny and Ponyboy. If he hadn't done that,he wouldn't have been dead. It's a bizarre chain of events that led to several deaths, including Bobs. Bob's parents weren't evil, though; Randy said that Bob's mom had a nervous breakdown.

I agree. If Bob's dad had just talked to him once he would've known that his actions had consequences. Bob's dad could've shown him that he has to pay for his actions but his dad always lets him get away without anything bad happening to Bob. If Bob had known his actions had consequences he would've been more cautious and seen that Johnny could fight back. In the end though, he didn't know this and he died because of it. If his dad had taught him about this it could've all been avoided.

I agree because someone who has been disciplined right as a kid, and knows when to stop wouldn't be out here bullying and drowning two 14 and 16 year old boys. Someone who has been disciplined knows when to stop because they know the consequences of their actions. Although Bob may not have been ready to die in this situation, all his actions leading up to that moment say otherwise. He plays with his life and fights younger kids, jumps 15 year olds, etc. Now if he had just been disciplined and learned the consequences of his actions, Johnnycake would still be alive.

I feel like it would depend with Bob and his old man. The belt would either screw up Bob more ,and still make him be dead because of how bad he acts, or if he got hit and he finally listens, he would still listen. But, with how Bob acts in the story and how he treats all of the greasers, it doesn't;t seem like he would even notice how bad his actions are towards the greasers, and continue with his terrorizing.
