In the first year, I built a strong foundation in programming and core concepts while adapting to the discipline and pace of engineering.

By the second year, I moved beyond classrooms—working on projects, applying knowledge to real-world problems, and strengthening my skills in teamwork and leadership.

Now, in my third year, I am more focused on creating solutions with impact. Projects like the Campus Navigation Map and AR-based Digital Technician reflect my interest in using technology not just for development, but for addressing everyday challenges.

Parallel to academics, I actively engaged in the National Service Scheme (NSS). Through NSS camps and community initiatives, I experienced the value of service, empathy, and youth leadership.

It was through NSS that I was introduced to the SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) Group. Joining this platform allowed me to align my technical journey with global goals—particularly SDG 16 (Peace & Justice) and SDG 17 (Partnerships). By participating in peace dialogues and cultural events, I realized how youth can be a driving force for harmony, innovation, and sustainable change.

Today, my path in computer engineering is not just about technology—it is about using knowledge to create social impact and contributing as a responsible global citizen.

My name is Chirag Shah, and I am pursuing Computer Engineering. Alongside my academics, I am also an active member working towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Beginning of My Journey
My journey towards becoming an SDG member started when I met Yashraj Patil Sir. His guidance, encouragement, and constant support inspired me to join the SDG Club. He helped me understand the importance of youth participation in achieving these global goals. Without his mentorship, I might not have taken this step towards sustainability.

When I began my first year of Computer Engineering, I had very little knowledge about the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). At that stage, I was mostly focused on academics, exams, and completing my syllabus. Real-world challenges like sustainability and global development were not something I paid much attention to.

In my second year, everything changed when I met Yashraj Patil Sir. He introduced me to SDGs and helped me understand their global importance. With his guidance, I realized how these goals are connected to our lives, why they are necessary for society, and how each of us can play a role in achieving them. This was the turning point that made me curious and motivated to explore SDGs further.

During this phase, I participated in various activities, discussions, and awareness sessions related to sustainability. These experiences gave me confidence, improved my teamwork skills, and taught me that even small actions—like spreading awareness, reducing waste, or adopting eco-friendly habits—can contribute to big changes.

By the time I reached my third year, my perspective had grown even stronger. I started applying the knowledge I gained in practical ways—taking part in projects, collaborating with peers, and trying to connect my engineering skills with real-world SDG solutions. This journey has made me more socially responsible, innovative in thinking, and determined to keep contributing to a sustainable future.

Looking back, from first year to third year, the SDG journey has transformed me. I have learned to go beyond academics, to think globally while acting locally, and to believe that every individual has the power to create positive change. Most importantly, I now see myself not just as a student, but as a responsible citizen working towards a better tomorrow.

But as time passed and I entered my second year, I met Yashraj Patil Sir—a person who completely changed my perspective on SDGs. He helped me understand how these goals are contributing to the world, why they are so important, and most importantly, how we as individuals can contribute to them.

Through him, I got the opportunity to join the SDG Global Lab, where I learned countless new things about sustainability, innovation, and community impact. Later, during the winter season, I participated in an NSS camp, where we worked on mapping various goals and interacted with local people. Listening to their challenges and understanding their needs opened my eyes to how we can make a real difference in their lives.

This experience was not just educational—it was truly transformative. It gave me new learnings, real connections, and a strong belief that even small steps toward SDGs can create meaningful change.

Today, I am not just a computer engineering student—I see myself as a global citizen who has a responsibility toward society and the planet. The SDGs have become a guiding force in my journey, reminding me that technology and knowledge are most valuable when they are used to solve real problems.

And this is just the beginning—my goal is to continue contributing in every way I can, inspiring more young people like me to step forward, explore the SDGs, and be part of this collective mission for a better world.

As a part of his mentorship, he conducted a small but impactful SDG activity game. Through this engaging session, we learned about all 17 SDG goals and understood their importance in solving real-world challenges. This activity sparked my interest and made me realize that SDGs are not just concepts but practical guidelines for building a better future.

Later, when we participated in NSS activities, we again connected our work with the SDGs. For example, during medical camps and community service programs, we mapped our efforts to relevant SDG targets. These activities gave us hands-on experience and helped us see the real impact of aligning technology, service, and sustainability together.

Thanks to the constant guidance of Yashraj Patil Sir, my transition from Computer Engineering towards the SDGs has become a meaningful and inspiring journey—one that continues to shape my vision for the future.
