As adults we often forget that we have mountains of information that our students may not. We need to stop this assumption that they know the definitions of all the words in the text. We need to stop assuming that just because they did science last year means they know what a beaker or a test tube is. Of course we must also acknowledge that students still bring a fountain on knowledge with them, they know much more than we do about technology, they understand that math has multiple solutions and that the world has many sides. It is a matter of recognizing this knowledge and running with it, if they don't know this, what is the closest thing they do know and lets build from there. Start with something that the children know and offer them support as they build prior knowledge. This way children have confidence learning new topics. Another thing that I took away from this module was the importance of sentence framing. It gives students a good spring board and helps direct them to tell you the information you are looking for.

The one thing I learned that I feel is most important to me is selecting tier one, tier two and tier three vocabulary words from a text. I think it is super important to select vocabulary words from a text and exposed them to the students before the selected text is read. Doing this will increase the student's ability to read the text with more fluidly, will increase comprehension and considered ELL needs. I believe literacy development is essential and it helps in all the elements of all academic subjects.
