Early Days

As a child, I was very interested in reading and writing. I would collect books and writing materials. I enjoyed reading to my stuffed animals and younger siblings as a child acting as a teacher. My siblings and I played a game called "Teacher" where one of us would pretend to be a teacher and the other two were students. We would read to each other and ask each other to write things or do math problems on paper. I realized I had a passion for teaching at a young age.

Preschool-Public School

I had the opportunity to teach a preschool classroom at my local church at the age of 15. I fell in love with the aspect of setting up a classroom for a group of children to learn and then being able to help guide that learning. I volunteered at my local church for the summer and decided that I could see myself being a teacher at a public school. I began college in the Fall of 2021 as a Biology major because there was opportunity to make good money. I quickly discovered that Biology was not my thing. I decided to change my major to Early Childhood Education. Soon afterwards, I quit my high school job at Chick-Fil-A and became a teachers aide at a preschool. I discovered that I loved working with children, but I needed to change my major in order to be a licensed public school teacher. I changed my major to Birth through Kindergarten. This allowed me to graduate with a license to teach up to Kindergarten.

Finding My Place

I am currently a Senior in the Birth through Kindergarten Program. After graduation, I plan on getting additional teaching licenses to teach higher grades at a public school. I also plan on pursuing my masters degree in Education Leadership. Eventually, I would like to get my PhD in Education or Educational Leadership.
