When working with assessments focus on your formative assessments. Your formative assessments will give you the information you need from your students to know where they are at in their learning and what it is they need help with. You can use this information to help them move forward and improve. This way, they will be prepared when it comes time to take a summative assessment.

Formative Assessment data can be used to help the students improve as well as the teacher. As a teacher, you can use the data you gain from your formative assessments to measure the ability of your instructions and you can use this time to reflect and see if there is anything you would change in your teaching next time around.

Google Forms is a wonderful resource that can be used to create personalized quizzes that can be used a formative assessments in the classroom. You will easily be able to review your students' responses and it is a great way to implement technology into a lesson.

Another resource that I can use in my classroom is a set of response cards. This way, I can quickly assess my students and see if they are comfortable or need a little extra help with the content that has just been taught.

I can use the Four Corners strategy in my classroom to not only assess my students but also to get them up and moving and involved in instruction. I believe this a great way to assess students also because they are able to provide an explanation for their answer. This way, you can really get a good idea about how well they understand the content.
