Diversity also is important when it comes to new ideas and new perspectives. Each person has their ideas, thoughts, and points to view and they all come together. Aside from that, diversity also helps with personal growth and helps creates social awareness. We have an opportunity to learn, grow, and gain insights from one another. Diversity is not supposed to be a "confusing thing" it helps all parties gain new knowledge, new ideas, etc. As a teacher, I know my class is going to be filled with the majority of those with different backgrounds, cultures, etc. So what I would do is obviously make them feel safe and comfortable. As a teacher, I would put materials such as books that are written by women, men, and those in the LGBT to show that they are heard and seen and who those voices represent in my classroom.
