Horton Hears A Who

In the book Horton Hears A Who, by Dr.Seuss Horton, the main character, never gave up. One time I never gave up like Horton when rock climbing. I thought I couldn’t make it to the top but then my friend said “ If you do this we can go ziplining at the top.” That helped me realize that I really want to go ziplining with him so I didn’t give up and I made it to the top. A few reasons Horton never gave up are: even though it hurt, Horton followed Vlad Vlad-i-koff for almost a day, Horton tried to find the clover with the whos on it in a field of identical clovers, and he tried to persuade the animals that the whos were real even after they tied him up and put him in prison. As you read you will find out that never giving up is a big trait in our main character, Horton.

One reason why Horton never gave up is because even though it hurt him, Horton followed Vlad Vlad-i-koff for almost a day. First, this part of the text shows that he was determined to get the whos back even if he had to follow a bird all night. “ All that late afternoon and far into night that black bottomed bird flapped his wings in fast flight while Horton chased after.”. Second, this quote from the text shows that he was hurt while following the black bottomed bird (Vlad Vlad-i-koff) but still wanted to get the whos back . “Horton chased after, with groans, over stones That tattered his toenails and battered his bones.” This shows that Horton never gave up even after getting hurt every second and going on with no sleep.

Another reason Horton never gave up is Horton tried to find the clover with the whos on it in a field of identical clovers. This next part of the text shows that he probably didn’t sleep at all because he was scared that the whos might die if he did. “ By noon poor old Horton, more dead than alive, Had picked, searched and piled up, nine thousand and five.” This next part shows you that Horton didn’t care how many clovers it took or how much time it took he would find the whos. “ Then, on through the afternoon, hour after hour . . . Till he found them at last! On the three millionth flower!” This shows that Horton never gave up even after following Vlad Vlad-i-koff for almost a day while getting hurt and looking through 3 million flowers with no sleep but he never gave up.

My last reason Horton never gave up is Horton still tried to persuade the animals the whos were real even after he got tied up. Horton said this after he got tied up.” You very small persons will not have to die if you make yourselves heard! So come on, now, and TRY!” This shows that Horton knew that the whos could do better and never lost faith in them. Also while Horton was getting tied up by the animals Horton called out to the mayor: “ Don’t give up! I believe in you all ! A persons a person no matter how small!” This shows that Horton didn’t just give up when he got hurt, when he had to find a singular clover in a field of 3 million clovers, or even when he got tied up, and he believed in the whos the whole way.

In conclusion, Horton never gave up because even though it hurt Horton followed Vlad Vlad-i-koff for almost a day, Horton tried to find the clover with the whos on it in a field of identical clovers, and he tried to persuade the animals that the whos were real even after they tied him up and put him in prison. This is why you should never give up because if you don’t give up you can make yourselves heard like the whos. Or if you believe in everyone and never give up so you can achieve what you want like Horton.
