When I was 8 years old, I went in and out of different schools because none of the teachers helped me with my speech impediment problem. I stayed at this school called RAMP CHARTER ACADEMY for a little bit. During my stay there, the teachers noticed that I was having a hard time pronouncing words and having a hard time speaking. They also noticed that I was having a hard time understanding the lesson. So, they tested to see where I was at and to see what I needed help with. After I got tested in both speech and subject related tests, they found out that I had a speech impediment problem and I had a learning disability problem.

When I was 13 years old, I was a middle school senior at Orchard Park. I had made lots of memories from 4th grade to the day I graduated from OPS. During this time, I was thinking of doing music with my clarinet as my career. So, I looked up colleges and found the best music schools that I could go to after I graduated high school. While thinking of having music as my dream job career, I was also thinking of having a career in the stem field. So when it came to selecting our high school, I chose Antioch High School because they had an Environment Science Academy that would go towards a Stem major college. During my 8th grade year, my sister was already in high school and her band teacher invited me to play in their jazz band because they were short on Alto Saxophone. I was so excited to be in a high school jazz band because I would be the only middle school student in there. So I went to my middle school band teacher to rent out an Alto Sax, and when I started playing it I instantly loved it. Eventually I got my own saxophone and I would always play it.

When I was 14 years old, I was a freshman in high school. There were a lot of new people I didn't know and I was nervous. I was also going through a rough time as well because of the new environment that I was in. I started self-harming myself because I was starting to stress out with grades, trying to fit in, and overall my grades because this is when I started to think about college. I was in the Antioch High School Marching band and being part of it was fun because it honestly helped me block out reality for a little bit while being in band. However, even with me being in band, I would still stress out because the classes that go with the Environmental science academy would kind of stress me out because there was a lot of group work and I didn't do so well with group works. I also joined track and field my freshman year because I thought maybe running can help me with my mental health. It was all going great, until covid started.

When I was 17 years old, I was a senior in high school. I was very excited because I was ready to leave. I was also thinking of what I wanted to be. I had 17-18 years to think about what I wanted to be and I had finally figured out that I wanted to be a Pharmacist. I want to be a Pharmacist because of my mom. My mom was diagnosed with Lupus when I was young and she always struggled with her joint pains and constant pain. Every time she would take her pills, it wasn't helping at all because she was still in pain and she would also throw up. So with me being a Pharmacist, I hope to find a medicine that can help the symptoms of Lupus and I also hope to help explain people's side effects of medicine and overall what and why they are taking it. With that mindset, I applied to three colleges: Oregon State University, University of the Pacific, and University of Arizona. I got accepted to all three colleges, but when it came down to scholarships and the overall school experience I wanted in life, I chose University of Arizona. When I told my partner about it, he was first happy then as it went by he was trying to hold me back. We broke up, however he created a lot of problems that forced me to leave band class. I hated it so much because my friends who I thought were my friends weren't and I was angry. However though, I was also happy at the same time because I didn't like the new band teacher and the overall vibe of band became too toxic for me. After all of that, I finally graduated high school at 18 with honors and I was ready for University of Arizona.

After High school, I was getting ready to pack and I was also practicing my Alto Sax because I wanted to join the PRIDE OF ARIZONA MARCHING BAND. I was practicing music non stop and I was just loving the music. I was also doing the WILDCAT Leap program for Math and English. I was mostly doing it for math because I wanted to be in Math 112. After taking the math test twice, I was able to get into Math 112. With English, it helped me learn how to write emails better, helped me write essays better, and overall helped me see what teachers might want in their essays depending on the teacher. When it was time for me to leave for college, I started to cry because I was going to miss my home, friends, and family. I came to the University of Arizona on August 8th because on August 9th I had band camp. When Band camp started, I loved it. I made new friends, learning music, and the vibe overall was just amazing. I love being part of the PRIDE OF ARIZONA MARCHING BAND.

I have realized that I'm always going to make mistakes and that perfection is just a word that has been thrown around like it's something special, but in reality it's not anything special. My band director tells us that we will always hit a wall and that's fine, we just have to not let it affect us and show the wall who's boss it is. Ever since joining the band, I am always happy and all my worries of life go away. Even though my first year here is not over yet, I hope to make more memories here and have the best year of my college experience.
