         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Ethnography</strong> is the study of how audiences "assume the active role of constructing the meaning of media texts" (Beach Ch6, p. 55).<br><br><strong>Research Procedures for Students:<br></strong>1. Become acquainted with sample students by reading and group discussion. Discussion should focus on how culture shapes social identities and acceptance for cultural diversity.&nbsp;<br>2. The students should then choose a research topic. A discussion of the implications of studying a particular group and issues of "safety and need for informed consent".<br>3.&nbsp; Come up with research questions.<br>4. Incorporate themselves into their specific research groups.<br>5. Become an active observer.<br>6. Conduct research through observations and artifact collection.<br>7. Interview members of the observed group.<br>8. Analysis of the collected data.<br>9. Write the report.<br>10. Reflect on the experience and consider how culture shapes their own identity.<br>(Beach &amp; Finders, 1999, p. 83)</div>]]></description>
