I love the show POSE because it captures the overlapping struggles, joys, and the overall culture of our community. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, this show makes me feel represented and seen. It also made me aware how far we’ve come in terms of fighting for our civil rights and our place in this society. But most of all, I enjoyed it because of the extravagance of the show. It reminded me of myself and my high school friends. Since it was set in the 80s approaching the 90s, most of the songs that were used as part of the soundtrack were by Madonna and Whitney Houston which I really really love.

I find it hard to choose one specific series because it is like making a mother choose who her favorite child is but, The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare is one of my all time favorites. I really do enjoy fantasies specially with a bit of romance. Also, these series mirrors our world today and the social issues that are happening, it just includes some faeries and vampires but it can be very relatable. They also made it into a movie and  TV series although I prefer reading the books.

Rick Riordan's books were some of the first novels I ever read and followed religiously. It sparked a love in me for books, history, and all things fantasy; in fact, I would even go so far as to say that it thoroughly shaped who I am as a person. They had the DVD set of the first four seasons and we watched it together with the whole family. My sister and I loved it. We begged our dad to buy the DVD sets for seasons 5-9. After watching all of the episodes, we would still rewatch it. We watched the episodes with commentaries from the actors, directors and writers. We basically memorised the lines in the show. This show holds a special place in my heart because it strengthened the bond I had with my sister and my family, specifically my aunt and uncle.
