Art Terms that everyone should know.

• Juxtaposition Combining two or more things to create a new idea.
• Two-Dimensional Artwork that is "flat" (can hang on a wall), like drawing, painting, or photography.
• Three-Dimensional Artwork that has height, width and depth, like sculpture, pottery, origami, etc.

• The Pitch How you try to "sell" an idea to someone else. It should identify a problem and explain how it would solve that problem.

• Form/Function The relationship between what an object does and what it looks like.

• 6-Word Memoir A brief sentence or phrase that tells about an important time or aspect of your life. This will be used as a starting point for our Self-Portrait Projects.

• Contemporary Art Art that has been made in the current moment, by artists who are living and dealing with today's issues.
• Artistic Style The commonalities in an artist's work, including materials, techniques, size, shape, color, etc.
