         <description><![CDATA[<p>First step is to stop the bleeding with either pressure or gauze.</p><p>Clean with cool running water and dry with a sterile cloth.</p><p>Application of antibiotic ointment is next.</p><p>For small lacerations a bandage with daily renewal is acceptable.</p><p>With deeper laceration stitches are necessary.</p>]]></description>

All sports programs are to have a pathogen exposure plan should include counseling, education, volunteer testing, and management of bodily fluids. </p><p><strong>Preparing the Athlete</strong></p><p>All open wounds and lesions should be covered with dressings that do not allow for transmission to or from the athlete like occlusive dressing. </p><p><strong>When bleeding does occur</strong>, athletes must be removed from participation and returned only when deemed fit and safe by the medical staff. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Sings of infection in a wound look the same as those for inflammation. These include pain, heat, redness, swelling, and disordered function. These wounds may be purulent as well. In addition, a fever may accumulate as the immune system fights back the infection. </p>]]></description>
