Today there were two sheets that may have been needed to be filled out. If we had no more work to complete there was a sheet to get our tutors signatures for the units that the taught us and they signed us of to say we had completed that unit, then we had to get delta to sign it to say it was all done and we could move on to do our FMP. I got all signatures in time and could move on to start the documents for FMP. This has shown me how vital it is make certain that all work is completed to the deadlines we are given. this also will prevent most of the referrals that you could get if you have to hurry the work to get it to meet the final deadline. To make sure this doesn't happen to me I am going to closely read the assignment brief and the deadlines that are there for us and to plan out how long a task will take me so that way there wont be a last minute rush, instead the work will be to a high standard and I wont be a stressed about unfinished work and an upcoming deadline. We started by completing a SWOT analysis for our skills and weaknesses and how they would give us opportunities or threats on this unit/course and after. I realised some of the tings that I have to work on- something I knew from previous projects is my communication skills, something new that pat teammates gave me constructive criticism on was that sometimes in a project is that I struggle to listen to new ideas that might change my original one. To improve I want to work on my self confidence so that I'm not anxious about trying new ideas and that the original idea is not perfect and can always be improved. I know that I can always trust my team and their decisions and I want to work on being able to show them this. Then we had a check list for our skills or abilities and we had to check of if we were red, amber or green. I am sometimes quite self-conscious and I don't often think very highly about my own skills but I tried to be as honest as possible.

Today we have been going over the brief for our FMP. We stared by listening to Leila go over the marking scheme - then we began to analyse the brief. Now I realise how much work is going to be needed to complete the FMP to even a pass standard so the amount of work I am going to have to put in to get a distinction is certain to be huge. To keep up with this I must keep in mind how much time I have until the deadline (14th June), I know its a week different every Wednesday. This will help to keep in mind a rough production schedule for what we need to do week by week to get everything complete on time. Then I wrote up my analysis of the brief - I tried to add as much detail as possible to get it to distinction level, to show my understanding and to help memorise the key facts that I must remember so I don't forget anything vital - although I will continue to read and check the brief regularly and whenever I start a new task. Then we started on our mind maps and ideas. At home I did more mind maps and started on my mood board which in a pad let.

Today we had a workshop for using some of the equipment. then we had to record ourselves setting up the equipment and demonstrating them. this took all of the day. We first stated by doing the jib, I was on camera, and we started by setting up the jib for practise and then taking it down. Then I started recording and set it up with Gabbie doing most of the talking. Late I had to edit this video because it was too long to upload it. it was sped up at times so it is occasionally unrealistic. Then we did the head held rig and the audio equipment. We had a problem with the last one with lots of people going past and my iPad that I was recording on ran about of storage space and i had to switch to Jayne's mobile. I could not stay for the entire workshop because I had to picked up at 3 and would have no other way to get home.

Today we were told for the first time that our proposal had a cap of 500 words, the brief for the project says that we must do around 500 but it says nothing about not being allowed to go over this amount. We were also told for the first time that after pitching our ideas when we are in our groups we have to incorporate everyone's ideas into the project - instead of just selecting one. this has now made everything difficult as the three of us all have very different ideas from each other. If we had been told this sooner we could have prepared for it. Fortunately I saw a way to only have to adjust things to make the idea work with my team mates. I have also had to drastically slim down by proposal to make it fit the new requirements for our teacher.

Its finally complete though and now I am ready to do my pitch but I am a bit worried that its not going to be any good. We don't actually know what our idea is going to be like yet as we haven't had time to plan the idea at all because we thought we couldn't until we did the pitch. Hopefully tomorrow it will go well and I won't panic and rush through it and be able to clearly say everything that I want to.

Today I have completed my pitch and I am very pleased with how it went. my smart targets were to be confident and clear and I feel that I have succeeded with meeting these targets and the filmed video is on the work pad let. I talked about Animal Farm but I focused mainly on the main themes and how I would incorporate this into our group idea. This was a little tricky because we haven't yet defined clearly what our whole idea is but we have a theme that we want and a clear purpose for our project. When I was asked questions I feel I answered them well and didn't panic or stumble too much. After this I uploaded all my work for task 1 onto showbie as it was only unlocked this morning and we have a deadline of 4pm today. Then I got started on my research - which was doing job profile analysis and industry professional profiles for our roles and the others that we will be sharing and we can look at other people who influences our ideas even if they are not working in our assigned role. I haven't got all of them done yet so tomorrow this will be my main task to do for the day.

Today we have had workshop and this was this week aimed at our editing skills. we were told we would be put into groups again and and we would have to create a short film (3-4 mins, but 2 mins would be acceptable). The main theme of each film would be to do with the title which would be given to us through a lucky dip. The titles were; "Where is my mobile phone?", "Teenage pressure.", "Their first meeting.", "Why am i so alone?", "Out of time and I've won!". Our group wanted the out of time, but when we did the lucky dip this was already chosen and we had why am i so alone. For the "out of time" idea we wanted one of us to be late for class and it would be in the style of a spy film so she would be stunt rolling around and crawling under desks to get to class before the teacher. But the other group did not want to swap. We were at first stumbled on what we could do for this one the only thing we could think of was that we didn't want it to be too depressing or sad. We also had to use the track and dolly to show our use of the equipment we had leant about last week and we would have to use narration only and no dialogue. And we also had to have it end on a cliff hanger and the audience wondering what happened next to wet their appetite and make them want to watch the next "episode". Delta suggested we could have used objects rather than people but this didn't really appeal to us too much. We at fist though about having Jayne and Gabbie (they are best friends in real life) trying but unable to get to each other, but in the end we came up with Jayne feeling lonely because gabbie didn't want her anymore, but Gabbie was depressed but didn't tell anyone, with the end being that they realised they were happier together and trying to get to each other but failing. (This would be the cliffhanger). We only had one hour to film and record the narration. This proved to be unrealistic to do if we wanted good shoots for this production - if we had been able to come up with a sipper idea than perhaps this would have been more achievable - in the end it too 1 hour and 10 mins to get all the footage. I was the director, Jayne and Gabbie were the actors and Kirsten was on camera. Unfortunately when we looked back at the footage quite a bit of it was out of focus and fuzzy. We did the best with wheat we had on the edit - each has to do their own individual edit. I did not get a lot done today as my computer kept freezing on me and wouldn't load or preview the footage. I tried my best to keep calm - something I need to work on - but it was just too slow so I had to save what little I had managed to do on my memory stick and come back later in the week to get it done before friday.

Fortunately I managed to complete everything almost to how I wanted it - some of the shots had to be creatively edited as they were very out of focus or wobbly - and I didn't get time to add any music. Apart form that I am pleased with the end result. After lunch our group tried to do some pixelation but we didn't get much done because my camera ran out of batteries. Then at 1.30 Jayne and I had to go to our english class.

I loaned a book out of the library to do more research at home. Tomorrow our group will pool together the research on the books and we can plan from there.

Today our group got together to discuss the research we had done into our books that we had looked at from the library yesterday, I could only really do one of my books as the other had too much information that I wanted to potentially use so I am going to do more with that book at a later date. We created one huge mind map to write down all the valuable information we had gathered and that would affect our FMP. Two of the books were on media and techniques that we could use and learn from and potentially incorporate into our project. The other books were into social action/ social sciences and with the things we will be basing our project on and be in the main film. These were things like cyber bullying and the politics of disablement.
Also we created a group research wall on Padlet so we can pool together all the research that we find and that will help us to effect and improve the FMP. This had proved to be beneficial because we can all se each others inspiration and we can all be thinking the same things and in what direction our project should go, otherwise we might look at all different things and start evolving the idea plan into completely different directions. This Padlet wall is designed to stop that from happening.

Today we have been doing a Photoshop workshop, first we had a lesson about how the cameras work and some of the theory behind photography which was interesting. then they explained about shutter speeds and how much light this will or will not let in, then about aperture and hope this will also effect how much light reaches the camera but also how you can use it to create depth of field visuals. I did learn about this last year but it was good to go back over these techniques as they can be quite technical and I forgot which setting adjusted the light and which was depth of fired and whether it number had to be higher or lower to let more light in, now I know that if the number is higher it lets less light in. This will be important when I am taking photos later on and next year so that I can get them to be a much higher standard and be able to convey the message that I want to the viewer. Then we went out with DSLR cameras and took lots of photos and came back to edit and evaluate them. Some of the images I had were for using texture(a view of dirt, pebbles and leaf litter) patterns and lines (a circular bird feeder, suspended in an ornate frame)and colour and framing (Gabbie - in a black coat in between two black pipes), because of the limited amount of cameras we had to work in groups and we could only have about three or so good images between us so we all had the same amount of time using the DSLR. I experienced for myself how the aperture is a vital part of photography techniques and getting a high quality picture because the light was constantly changing with the sun going in and put and the clouds obscuring the lighting. Then when we had to Photoshop them, Dave went through some more techniques that we could use to enhance and improve the images in creative ways and also how to use overlay to put two images together to create a good visual effect. i liked using this and found it to be a great tool to leaner and for using in the future. with it i create a more scary and dark picture of Gabbie, a fish jacket, and a suspended evil eye. these skills i have learnt to day will be every useful for next year and the photography we do then - especially if we do nay more 2D print based campaigns or something similar, and also it was grate fun to use and to create something like this.

Today began with a kahoot about some of the things we had covered over the year and would need to talk about and research for this FMP. I did not do very well and finished around the 13-10th place. I realised that I had forgotten some of the technical terms and what they meant. This was things like semiotics (the study of symbols and signs in an image or video) and I leant what Geographic's meant ( the study and responses of people who live in a geographic location). I believe the reason that I had forgotten some of these technical terms was because I had not used them since before Christmas and I have become unused to them and what they mean and the context in which they are used. Now that I have rediscovered these terms and learnt some new ones I must keep using them regularly with my work. I can do this by using them for discovering more primary and secondary research and for my evaluation to take them into consideration. This will be very important for the research that I will be conducting - giving me a wider range of information to find and ideas for more questions to help with the planning for FMP over the coming days and when I complete my write up for the research in task 2. Then during lunch we did some pixilation for our hospital work experience. This enabled me to explore and develop my skills and abilities in my future job roles for my FMP; the main role is Director but I will also be lending a hand at the camera operator and other roles if as we do not have enough people for all of them. This proved to be a good learning experience because I realised that when operating the camera you must keep the focus in mind constantly - sometimes when I was taking photos I didn't realise that the main character slipped out of focus when moving closer to the camera. If this happened whilst filming shots during FMP the it would ruin the entire shot and possibly if I did not realise this mistake till much later - e.g. during the editing process - it might could ruin the whole scene and if it was too late to re-film that shot it could have a negative effect on the entire production. To prevent this happening in the future I need to practise maintaining my concentration and to keep it on two things at once - what I want filmed and how it looks on the camera screen; that might be the focus or it could be the light changing or something moving in the background away form the main action on the screen, I will need to be able to see all these things that happen at the same time. I also learnt that I must be clearer when in a director role with giving instructions clearly to my team and to keep giving them new instructions for them when a situation changes during filming and not relying on them to know exactly what to do throughout the production. If I do not improve then the filming - and all of the production - will not have a clear direction and we will not be able to create the high quality project that we all want. To improve I will need to have a clear plan myself before we film and so when I am asked any questions by my team I will already know exactly what I want and need them to do to create a great shot. Also I need to improve my confidence and team communication skills so that I don't feel shy and nervous when talking to my team and giving them instructions. This mostly happens when they question something I ask them to do and are not sure if its them best idea, sometimes they will also suggest an idea of their own, and I get very self conscious and awkward if I'm not certain about exactly what I want, leading to them potentially not being sure about what I am asking or trying to create. To improve I must be certain of my idea and exactly how I want the shot and scene to look for the end result. But I also need to be open to my teams ideas and to allowing them to change, modify and improve my idea because this will potentially improve it better than just my ideas alone. We found some new books for research in the library that are to do with our target audiences and the social action aspect to our video. I took them out to do a mind map for tomorrow, this will include target audiences, detail about the author and editor, weather it is bias or not, how it my affect our project as well as other things. Then we were taught about Padlet Diaries and the things you should and shouldn't do - I do not spell check nearly enough or go into the correct amount of detail when needed. Also I have now realised how much work goes into just the Padlet to get it to just a Merit. From now on I will be trying much harder to get my Padlet Diaries up to the distinction level. I plan to achieve this by taking more time when writing up my diary entries than I had previously and to pay more attention to exactly what details I am putting into the entries. I also want to use P.E.E.D in my writing (Point, Evidence, Explain, Develop), I use this when writing in my English lesson and I must incorporate this method of writing for Media to get the distinction.

Today we went on a college trip to the Anglia Ruskin University. This was a good learning experience to get some primary research for our FMP. We were at point kept waiting for others to turn up at certain point for large group activity. I have learnt from this that organisation is key to make sure that everything you plan to do - weather activities or creating something like a video or even the simple things such as giving talks. something I will be doing for my project is to make sure that everyone who is involved knows exactly what they at meant to be dong and how that relates to what the main goals and tasks are for the day. To do this I would have a timeline/schedule written down and either printed or sent electronically to the entire team. Also I need to keep all team members involved and talking to each other so that if they have any questions or do not understand then they feel able to ask questions and clarify anything that was previously misunderstood. This then help everything to run smoother and prevent some of the problems that could have otherwise arisen. I learnt about how important a script and direction is for even the simplest of "speeches", when we went on our tours we couldn't go into any of the rooms and only got o see the corridors and a door. Also because we are media students we wanted to see that particular area but this is not happen for some reason this was not a part of the tour. When our guide was speaking I felt as though they were simply trying to think of things to say and they had not practised this before hand. This experience has taught me that it is also better to plan or write a script of what I want to say before doing something like this so that I - and those on my team or actors - know exactly what I want to be said and the message that I want to get across to the listeners is clearly and they can easily grasp it. And when a script is good it will have clear directions so those following it know what they have to be doing and when they have to be saying certain things at a certain place, giving their words a deeper meaning and a bigger effect for those listening to what they have to say. Something I learnt that I did not expect to was how teenagers/young adults get bored very easily and they don't have that long of an attention span. When the workshops and talks began everyone was paying attention but as they went on more and more people lost this and became bored and in the end started doodling or whispering to each other and just not paying attention to the important information they were trying to tell us. To avoid this and keep my audience's (16-20yr olds) attention and to get all of the information and the message across to them, it is crucial that they do not get bored as this will kill their focus, and the main message will get lost. For the FMP I plan to use this lesson by keeping things happening and not to stay on one things for too long but to keep it fresh. Even if the image on the screen is simplistic in style this is still possible and it is important that it all flows smoothly. It would be a great idea if it would be possible to have something surprising and sudden happen around the middle of the video to shock and awaken the audience and keep them guessing and want to know what happens next and their attention fixed on the video. I saw this for myself when during the last talk the speaker told us to write down a question on a piece of paper and turn it not a paper aeroplane and to then throw it at the student ambassadors. This was completely unexpected and surprising and suddenly everyone's attention was fixed back at them and we were all exited and buzzing. This then helped with our attention for the rest of the talk as it was as if it had woken us all up. I want to use this type of technique myself, I plan to do more research into it to see what other people have done and what I could potentially incorporate into my own product.

Today we have been conducting primary research, first we did 1 to 1 interviews, we managed to do 4 interviews on half an hour. Then we did Vox Pops in Harlow town. Then focus groups back in college. (see my work pad let for the responses and results and how these will effect us and our project). The thing that I learnt from today was that I must be confident because it gets better responses from the people around me. When I approached people confidently as though I knew what I was doing they were far more responsive and happier to give an interview on the camera. When I projected confidence with my teammates they also became more confident and less nervous within their own roles and what we would be dong next. This lesson has been valuable because when I am the director in the production I must be confident for my team and so they know what to do and this will help them to be more confident and achieve better results in their roles as well. This will enable the production process to be smoother and faster with less time wasted on confusion or mistakes and will result in a higher quality product.

Today we have started pre-production, we analysed the paperwork involved and shared them out equally between the three of us according to our job roles. As the director, I will be completing the backup room plan and the release form for this room, the equipment booking sheet, planning the narrative and the script. The original plan is to use the photography studio (Gabbie - Editor will be completing this room plan and release form) but as this room is often busy we will likely need a backup and so this will be the motion room as it is large and has the same look as the photography studio - black floors and walls and a screen we can lower down. As I am the director it is best that I will be the narrative and script as it is the majority of my own ideas of the production that we will be following. This will also help me team and I to clarify the plan for our production and to visualise what everything will look like together and how it fits together with the meaning behind the actions on screen. I am worried about writing the script as we do not have any speech and so it is mainly stage directions, which I must make clear and easy to follow for our actors and the production team to follow to filming does not get confused and overly implicated that is has to be. Also some of the direction will mainly be for the editor to create the effects that we want so I am not sure if to add these direction or make them more general so as not to confuse the actors and speak to the editor before they begin editing exactly what must be done to achieve the desired goals and effects.

Today we have begun pre-production paperwork such as the storyboard and the shot list. We have got the equipment booking, location release and actor consent forms signed. I have learnt the ability of multitasking. Normally I would only move onto a new piece of work once the first had been completed but today I realised this was not a possibility. As a group we had one person drawing the image of the storyboard, another writing the shot list and another working on the budget. This day was difficult to get everything done but we managed to buy keeping calm and having a clear list of what needs completing and checking them off when completed. This is also good practice for when we are doing production work as for the last week we have to edit the video, collect audience feedback and evaluate which would normally take at least week to just edit so we are really pressed for time and will have to be doing multiple things at once.

Today I have completed the storyboard, the script, the narrative and all other per-production paper work as well as my write up summary from task 2 because today is the deadline and I did not get it completed sooner as I lost my memory stick during the week. The biggest lesson I had learnt today is of organisation. I was all a bit of a panic today to get everything done for the deadline. We also had a heated argument/discussion about an experimentation we had conducted later on in the day. It was mainly about the choice of lighting we have been suggested to uses two spotlights and four fairy light on the floor. The issue was that our producer was not sure that this lighting would be enough or would be effective and was suggesting using only two-four of the mini LEDs and no spotlighting. I wasn't happy with this idea and wanted to try to address their issues and worries Jayne had with this scene so we could have small backups for this but the others wanted to discuss the LED backup option. This led to us all getting confused about what the others were saying and we didn't manage to get much decided because of it. Then we went to do more experimentations but unfortunately I couldn't help much as I was called in the staff office but some of them were good and this helped us decide that we did want to use the spotlight type of lighting. From this experience I have learnt that I need to be clear about my idea and be clearer when communicating with my team, I plan to do this by remaining calm even when things get confusing or I might get worried about all the work we have to do. I also need to improve on completely trusting my team mates with the idea for our group and to trust they know what they are doing and will definitely be able to bring that idea to a reality.

Today as we finished all of the pre-production paper work have gone to the local town and bought all of the required props. This was sometimes tricky because we couldn't always find the items we wanted or had to go to a few shops to get the correct ones we needed. To pay for these props we all contributed £10 each - we receive no money from the college - the majority of the money was spent on the 12 t-shirts that came to a cost of £23. For the last few products, the confetti and balloon pump, Jayne and I contributed an extra few pounds each to cover the costs. I have discovered how the cost of a production can quickly mount up and escalate to much more than you may have initially planned to spend. Truthfully I did not want to spend this much amount of money and I am worried that it might be a bit wasted if what we bought is only used once for just the production. Unfortunately if we want to create a professional production its almost impossible to do so with just the limited resources provided by the college.

For the props we had to have the label written backwards - as it would be the reverse when reflected in the mirror - and then we designed them together for the type of font and having a minimalist design around the word to make them stand out more and be more eye catching than if they were just the plain word on its own. It was difficult to write on them so this took longer than expected and the pens began to run out a little but it was all done in time and now we are ready for filming tomorrow.

Today we have begun filming. We arrived early into college so we could set up the filming studio for this afternoon when we will begin - our actors can only get in 12.30 at the earliest. To do this I have brought in my brother's mirror and spent some time trying to clean it as it was very dusty and had fingerprints on it and we realised that when most of the lights were off these parts would show up brightly and be very visible to the camera. Unfortunately the marks wold not come off so i went to find a cleaner from somewhere. My team were blowing up balloons and filing them with confetti, some of them popped unexpectedly and we realised this was because the starts in the confetti were sharper than expected so we tried to limit the amount of stars we were putting in the balloons.
Once the room was ready and our actors arrived we made sure their clothing had no logos on them, then we had Jayne begin walking. For the first scene is of shoes walking, to create this we had a camera on a towel on the floor and one person would pull the towel parallel to the shoes as the walk. This was tricky to get right, even though we took lots of different takes of this very few worked out well initially. This was because it was difficult to get the action smooth whilst keeping up with the shoes as they walked. We solved this by getting our actors to walk slower and when pulling the towel to have your hands brushing the floor s you walked. We also had a few of us try to see who was better at getting the smoother action and the best clip.
We also used the dolly and tracks to get nice smooth zoom like effects of our actors walking. We had to unfortunately use handheld at one point to get an over the shoulder look of Jayne looking into the mirror so this resulted in much of the shot being shaky but we did our best to combat this by practising steady hands and breathing slowly and calmly as I was holding the camera to get the shot less shaky than it would have otherwise had been.
At one point one of our actors informed us that they had to leave at 3oclock so this hindered how long we had for filming as meant we had to film this person next - as we only had them for that one day - and then skip to the end scenes that the person would also be a part of. This did cause a little pit of panic as we tried to get the room reorganised for this different scene but with he help of our actors we managed to get it done quite well and in time to get the final scene filmed.
In the end we managed to get two out f the four walk-ups and mirror scenes, the party scene and balloon scene filmed. We have also come to a group decision during the filming for the party scene that we will have to cut out this scene as it doesn't have a very professional feel to it and it does not fit with the beginning scene and so we believe it is for the best that we do not use these clips of film at all anymore for our production.

Today we have come in on a study day to get more work done. Unfortunately on Friday we could not get all the filming done we had planned to do. We have asked when the Motion room will be available for us to film in again and we were told that it was free on Thursday or Friday but we believe that will not a much good for us as we have a to more to film and these days would leave almost no time to edit. We were informed that even though the room was booked for all day to day there may be a possibility that the group in there could be done by 3 - 3.30 pm so we decided we would come in and carry on with our work experience and try to film later on if the room became free.
I have received my grade for task 2 and this has come back as a merit. I am happy with his but I would rather get a distinction and so have begun to try and upgrade my work and improve where I went wrong using the feedback I have been given.
Later on we were told that the group filming had finished just after lunch time and so we could film in there if we wanted to, at first this was good news but then I remembered that I had forgotten to bring the mirror - a vital prop for the production. I called my mum and we talked for a while about it - the problem was that she was at home but we live far from the college and she picks me up from college and so this would be difficult due to time. In the end my dad brought the mirror to college and we were able to film.
Todays filming - when compared to Friday's - was much better and much smoother. As we already knew how we wanted most of the shots to look at what equipment we needed for each this did not take long to set up each shot. We also remembered that we needed to change the shots and angels for the different people to avoid the image that would be on screen from appearing to jump as the people or props would be positioned slightly differently for each person.
I am very pleased with the footage we have from today. We have completed everything we planned for all of the shots and scenes. We shouldn't need to film anymore. Also some shots in particular look very professional - these are ones when we would have the track and dolly follow a person walking but when they stopped we continued to move the dolly; it doesn't sound particularly amazing but to watch it back it looks great and we are looking forward to editing tomorrow.
filmed - forgot mirror

Today we have begun editing fmp. We began by creating the opening scene; the back of Charlie's shoes, that would go with the title. Then this would lead to the shoe scene; four pairs of shoes waling in between a path of lights. This was trickier to get right than I had expected. We want to have about two seconds/ 2 footsteps each and when we cut from one pair to the other for it to appear as though they were "the same person" or walking in each others footsteps. We succeeded by carefully watching and marking where each person's foot was when their clip ended and then matched this up - as much as possible - with the next person's. We had to change the order of people walking - originally it was; Charlie, Jayne, Joe and then Gabbie, but the transition of Jayne to Joe did not work at all and did not look realistic or professional, then we change to order to; Charlie, Joe, Gabbie and then Jayne. This turned out much better - I believe this was because there was too much of a difference between Joe and Jayne's style's. Joe has large black shoes and walks slowly, his shoes take up most of the screen. Jayne's are small white plimsolls that walk quicker and do not take up much space on the screen. Now that there is a pair of shoes in between them it works much better and won't be as distracting to the audience.
Then we moved on to the walking scene, this is when each person walks toward the camera in between two strings of light on the floor and into a spotlight then they leave the first spotlight and come to a second one - which will later be shown to have the mirror placed in it. This was easier to create than the other scenes, we just had to decided how much we wanted to show of each person. In the end we decided to have Joe, Jayne, Charlie and then Gabbie.
We had to edit this scene twice because the computer we were using "glitched" and Premier Pro had to be restarted and our last save was only up to the shoe scene and not the walking scene. From now on whenever we make a change that we decide will be kept we will save it immediately so this mistake does not happen again.

Today I have begun my bibliography for task 2, I only put a link to the page previously and I did not realise how much detail that a Harvard reference requires. I have read I page given by my teachers and am using it to create them but also a member of my group has found a website that can create the Harvard Reference for you when you put all the details in. This has made the task quicker but it still takes time to get the correct details for some of the less known information and it does struggle to find the publisher and date of when it was published.
When it is a YouTube video often it is one of mine or one of my team's video's and I can add the details myself.
Meanwhile we were also continuing the edit for our FMP. Today we are working on the mirror scene; each person is viewing themselves in the mirror and the audience can see the stereotype society had labelled them with. We were worried that you couldn't see the label for long enough so we took a screen shot of them in the mirror and then used key frames to zoom in. We also added dip to blacks in between some of the frames to get the transitions between them smoother without being too long or complicated with a professional look.

Today I have continued and completed the bibliography and also continue with the edit. We have focused mainly on the punch scene, to do this we use the shot of Charlie slowly tapping the mirror with his fist, we then sped it up to make it look as fast as a punch. This was not quick and easy but by cutting the clip in to smaller sections and then speeding each one up as it individually needed. Then we found online a glass image from a royalty free website and then added it to the punch when it connected with the mirror. This took a long time to get right, when we put it with the exact moment of contact with the mirror it looked too late, but when it was put before contact it looked too early. In the end we got it right with a tiny fade at the beginning of the glass appearing.
A bigger problem was with group morale today, because we have been in all week and still have tomorrow, it has been a long week and has taken a lot of energy out of us. This has resulted in some communication issues but we are all keeping calm as possible, I suggested at one point for us all to take a break so we could relax and recharge because it felt as though the stress was getting to us and we weren't working at our best because of it. When we came back from the break, we worked together better and managed to get most of the days work done.
One of our teachers has reviewed a rough copy of our work today and approves of most it. To improve it he has suggested we cut out the zoom into the mirror for most of the label shots as it isn't necessary because the words are clear and it takes too much time. Then he noticed that between Charlie's mirror shot and then him punching the mirror. To fix this he suggests that we film more tomorrow, this could be a simple shot of three of our actors - one is not easily available to come in - looking into the camera in some way.

Today we plan to film later - an actor cannot get in until 12.30 as he has lessons before hand - for this morning we have edited with the suggestions we were given yesterday. We have added titles yesterday but we need to change the style of the text to make it more interesting and not as boring. It was difficult to decide as most were quite boring but we did not want it to be comical or not serious enough. Then we added the helpline to the end titles for people who might have been affected by what they have seen. We have chosen for this to show the Samaritans helpline because they are for all people who need any kind of help, even if that's just someone to talk to. Then we took out the zoom parts of the mirror scenes and once this was done we set up the motion room for filming this afternoon. We had trouble doing this because the tripod was very wobbly and slightly broken, and it was the first time we have used the slider so we had to get used to how to set it up. Once the actor arrived nd everyone got into their costumes, we did close up shot of their faces and moved the slider gradually close and had them do one serious hot and then one of them nodding (originally we thought we would have them each do something different to shot that they were more confident that before but this became a bit amateur looking so we decided to keep it to a simple slow nod). Once done we put the clips onto the edit and it looks much better, now all we have to do is a few basic edits in premier pro on Monday and then we are finished with the edit and then we have to organise our own showing.

Today we have come in our study day to continue the editing for our FMP. We removed a white line on the screen due to taking a screen shot and then adding onto the end of the footage. To do this we used colour matt tool, then adjusting the position on the screen to cover the whit line. We also had to re-find the sound of a mirror braking as it went missing during the editing process but it is ow back in its correct place. When putting on the footage of our three actors nodding, with the help of Dave, we had them all come onto the sea scene at the same time and then slowed down Gabbie's clip to have her and Jayne nod at the same time and with Charlie being slightly delayed and the girls facing out before him. This gives it a much more professional feel and does not take up as much time so it had the audience paying better attention. And it gives a much desired better build up and anticipation for the action of what happens. After we exported the finished video we created a survey online and posted it on social media to get feedback form a wide range of people. This helped us to show what people thought of our video and gives us feedback for how we can improve our advert and this will help for our evaluation as well.

When we came in this morning we planned to write our presentation for the showcase and presenting to C.A.S.T tomorrow. We had trouble finding a place with computer where we could do this, the open plan was full and too busy, the library did not have three computer next to each other so we went over to the canteen and upstairs to the English department where they have a large room with many computers. When we finished we had to decide when we would play our video - I wasn't sure if we should do it at the end of our video the more traditional way or if to say the introduction, play the video and then carry on with the presentation. We decided on the second option as we normally have to explain our video a bit anyway when we get to the questions and answers so this way we should answer any questions or things that they might not have understood or noticed first and then they can give us better feedback with any confusion.
Then we did our screening with some media students and got some interesting feedback; one person said they thought we should have made the advert longer a sit is an FMP but another person said that they thought it was the perfect length for an advert and we should not change it.
Then we went over to marketing - even though they are not in our target audience's age range they have experience with the media industry and how these adverts hsou;d look to be a professional standard - and had them gives us feedback on our advert and they gave us very detailed responses, most of it was positive and the things they told us to improve made sense.

Today we have presented our FMPs to a showcase, this was an interesting experience. My legs were shaking a bit and the comments and feedback were not what we were expecting. One person liked the breaking of the mirror, but the rest of our feedback was mainly negative. We also had to deal with the audience speaking and giggling whilst we were presenting and getting feedback so I did at time feels disrespected by my classmates and I felt very upset and down about our whole project. Looking back I feel though that we have a great project and I have learnt that you can't take to heart others opinion and the feedback we got from our surveys and previous showings were far more positive and contradicted a lot of what others have said today.
