Hypothesis. The concentration of sugar affects the development of yeast cells: low concentrations behave as a substrate while higher concentrations inhibit its development due to the higher osmotic ambient pressure.
Required materials: 7 test tubes, yeast, syrup of sugar, 7 balloons, water.
Method: prepare the syrup (100g / 150ml of water) and active the yeast in 150 ml of water.
I prepare 7 tubes with 10 ml of water suspension and yeast and increasing quantities of syrup. The total volume is brought to 15 ml.
After 2 hours in the 3 test tubes with the minimum quantity of sugar the gas production was observed. Then the hypothesis made at the beginning has occurred

I gave as usual samples of food (flour, sugar, banana, apple, yogurt, potato) to be tested and I made available two unknown solutions: B (Lugol) and A (NaHCO3). The B I colored it in blue A was yellow due to the presence of Lugol.
The question asked was: "What is the indicator for starch? Solution A or B? What will be the signals to detect?"
