The application has great potential, I think, if activities incorporate Mattermost's particular features!

1. Emojis
Teaching graphic design, readability. How does an image differ from 112x112 to 28x28? Creating emojis, and then being able to use those custom emojis in Mattermost. Can be helpful if the emojis that are created can be made for the purposes of polling, reacts or just simply meme-like fun.

2. Discussion
Mattermost, Slack, Discord all benefit from the ease in which we can communicate. Perhaps, there is merit in moving away from the professional or academic registers of Connect's board posts (or forums in general). Instead, there may be value in reflecting how language online is being used today. (E.g. Excessive usage of punctuation marks like question marks, no penalties if one writes like this, line by line:
"sup tommy
did you do your research?
the one you talked about
yesterday")

3. Bots
Incorporating bots into Mattermost more. The creation of personalized commands for the bots would be helpful too. For example, typing and sending "!syllabus" could bring up a link to the respective document. Students/participants can also contribute their own commands.

I may want to use this for my classes. Can I create Mattermost teams/classes for my students? What might the concerning/negative implications of using this in the classroom?
