Out of all the reasons,Fatimah (2013) claimed that students who came from lower-income families had a greater risk of dropping out.and about 85% of school drop-outs from less developed states in the country come from poor families. More worrying, a study also had carried out by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2013 showed that out of 100 Orang Asli students who entered Form One, only six stayed on in school until Form Five.

Therefore, several initiatives had been undergoing to break the cycle, such as “Stay-In-School” programme by the ECM Libra Foundation. This project helps to provide opportunities for the youth who had problems to remain in school or university until they complete their education.

The foundation mission is to create big changes in the lives of children and youth who came from a disadvantaged socio-economic status and break out of the poverty cycle. The chairman is passionate about giving Malaysian children from less fortunate background the opportunity to dream big and the realization why it matters to stay in school. “I grew up in a poor family and I understand the situation of many of the children in our programmes. We want them to have that opportunity and to make the most out of it”, stated by Datuk Seri Kalimullah Hassan, chairman of ECM Libra Foundation.

How can they help the students:

1.Providing grants to schools and communities (e.g. for purchase of computers, libraries, school uniforms, bags and shoes)

2. Bond-free and no interest study loans to students who want to pursue their tertiary education in Malaysia.

3.Sponsoring teaching programmes such as tuition classes, pre-school programmes and skills training for youths in rural areas.

It has been highlighted that Students don’t have to repay and the interest is free and simply want to give them sense of responsibility and was primarily a way for beneficiaries to gain a sense of self-esteem as the foundation’s work and success feed into the outreach programme that they sponsored.

Names like Jobs, Gates, Dell, and others lend star power to the myth of the wildly successful college dropout. Based on statistic in Malaysia , rate of students dropping out from school increase every year . Shafruddin (2017) stated that about 1,300 primary and secondary school students dropped out of school in 2017 . little that they know that dropping out from school doesn’t give they any advantages ?

A researcher in education and talent ( Morshidi Sirat , 2016 ) claimed that the vast majority of the country’s success stories are college graduates, such as Vivy Yusoff , Dr Amalina Bakri and Neelofa .

There is a lot of people claimed that without education they can also succes in life . Like any myth, this story has a kernel of truth: There are exceptional individuals whose hard work, determination, and intelligence make up for the lack of a college degree. If they could do it, one might think, why can't everybody? Youth , please think rational and take a minute to reflect yourself .

Admittedly, the educational path of the cream of the crop may not apply to most people. So, going to college may not be the right or even the best path for everyone. However, if you’re a student thinking about not going to college or considering dropping out, remember that even Gates and Zuckerberg got into college.
