I was born in Michoacan, MX in a small village. At age 6 my family migrated to the US. It didn't take long to realize that I would have to re-learn social skills, language, and all forms of communication to be able to find friends. Though the first classroom I entered was led by a teacher who knew very little Spanish, soon I was transferred to a school that had bilingual teachers. This made my elementary school years much easier.
By middle-school, I knew enough English to understand my teachers, but missed the mixed culture atmosphere from my elementary school. This helped me grow though, and prepared me for a high school where Hispanics were a minority.

After high school, I got my first job as a cashier at a local grocery store. I had tried to go to college but could not afford it. My dream of becoming the first to graduate highs school had come true, but I put the college degree goal aside.
A lady from church called me one day and told me a friend of hers was looking for an assistant. Her friend was a paralegal. With absolutely no experience and no knowledge of the field I applied and got the job. I loved every minute of it. The challenges, the hectic days, the mistakes....and of course the highs of completing things. I worked my way up positions and knew it was something I wanted to do for the long run.

While still working in the law office, I got married and had my first child. I decided I wanted enjoy his childhood fully so I became a stay-at-home mom and had a second child. While raising my toddlers the opportunity to return to school came and I took it. I enrolled thinking I may graduate with low average scores and was surprised that I had a 4.0 and graduated with my AA at the top of my class. It really grew my self-esteem and made me explore the idea of going to law school.
I transferred to Heritage where I began my pursuit of a bachelors in criminal justice. During my junior year the LSAC Plus pipeline program opened and I was one of the lucky few to be chosen to be part of it.
I learned that the door is wide open for me to become a lawyer, though it won't be easy. Now more than ever I truly believe I can accomplish my dream of having a law degree.
